Curator’s statement

I was lucky enough to stay at Hacienda AltaGracia, an Auberge Resort in Costa Rica last month for five nights. I have nothing but great things to say about the hotel. The service and attention to detail were like nothing else.

To get to the property you will be greeted at the San Jose International Airport (SJO) with a VIP entry that includes a separate room for customs and immigration, you will then be put on a private charter that takes you directly to the property, on the hotel's private airstrip. The hotel frequently runs promotions that include this transfer in the rates.

Trip to Costa Rica

The hotel is all-inclusive for all meals and a wellness program at The Well— everything you could need, minus alcohol. This includes room service at any time, delicious coffee and snacks at their lobby Mercado, the central hub of the resort, lunch at their two restaurants at either the adults-only pool or their family pool, as well as nightly dinner.

All rooms have a dedicated compa/butler who helps you with everything. They will be there within minutes to pick you up and take you where you need to go, order your room service, plan your daily activities, etc.

The entry-level rooms, the King and Double Casita were huge and featured a sitting area with 2 couches, a bathroom larger than most NY apartments, as well as an outdoor lounge area. The Casita Double could sleep 3 adults very comfortably.

The next room category is a one-bedroom suite, the Casa, some also have their own plunge pools as well. These rooms feature a very stylish design, a large separate living room with a half bathroom, a full bar and an amazing outdoor swing.

The hotel markets itself mainly as a wellness getaway because of its amazing spa and natural surroundings. But it is actually an amazing property for honeymooners, families, multi-gens and even a stylish wedding venue. Anyone who truly wants to relax in nature and have amazing service.

The property is set in the mountains about 1.5 hours from the beach and features a river that runs through the property. There are many hiking trails on the property, as well as a butterfly garden and the hotel's herb garden, coffee plants, fruit trees etc.

Here is a photo dump to showcase how beautiful the property is.

A mesmerizing lake water view
