Best Ski Resorts in New York
Curator’s statement

My family was drawn to Windham, New York because of the close proximity to New Jersey and New York City. The town even reminded my father of the Swiss villages his family spent visiting throughout his childhood. Since the 80's, Upstate New York has held a near and dear place in my heart. Here's your complete guide to the best ski resorts in New York.

Windham Mountain Club

Windham Mountain Club is located in Windham, New York - a quaint, family-friendly town (I'm a bit biased given the fact that my family owns a home in Windham and we’ve been visiting for the past 30 years). The mountain is in the midst of a revamp, where hospitality moguls have come in and invested in improvements for the mountain to enhance their food and beverage offerings. The club is also part of the Ikon Pass.

Belleayre Mountain

Belleayre Mountain is a great, quiet option for first-time skiers or snowboarders. Just over two hours by car from New York City, Belleayre offers all sorts of events from dinner and dancing, to live music which also runs through the summertime. The majority of the trails are best for those looking for easy terrain.

Hunter Mountain

Hunter Mountain is part of Epic and boasts several lovely accommodations nearby the mountain. Also, being just over two hours away by car from New York City, Hunter Mountain offers fun events, tubing and even hosts a fun music festival called “Mountain Jam” annually in June.

Need to know

Each of these options are convenient, lively and offer something for everyone! While winter sports are great in all three of these locations, they're also beautiful in the spring, summer and especially the fall during leaf peeping season!
