Curator’s statement
Nestled on 12,000 acres in the picturesque Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, Primland is a luxurious escape for travelers seeking tranquility, adventure and impeccable hospitality. My husband and I spent an enjoyable four nights there in March 2024.

From the property gate, the 20-minute drive to the lodge is beautiful, forested and quiet. The check-in process was seamless, with courteous staff providing a warm welcome and a glass of wine.
There are 26 Lodge rooms, the Pinnacle Treehouses and the Cottages for a total of 51 rooms. The property was full during our stay but never felt crowded. We stayed in a Lodge room with a living room and balcony and a fantastic view of the golf course and the Blue Ridge Mountains. For families, there are plenty of options for connecting rooms. The décor was rustic, beautiful and comfortable; Auberge, who has been managing the property for about two years, is updating many of the furnishings and lighting. Outdoor pools, a new fitness center and event space are being added to the property, as well.
Dining Options:
Elements: Fine dining, locally sourced ingredients menu showcasing a fusion of Appalachian flavors with international influences. The homemade Parker House Rolls are amazing! Also open for breakfast - try the biscuits and homemade jam!
The Pub: Open for lunch and dinner, it provides a cozy atmosphere for casual dining and savoring handcrafted cocktails. Our favorites were the trout, the pimento cheese appetizer and deviled eggs.
The Stables Saloon: Open Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturday nights from 6-8 pm. It offers Southern favorites (BBQ ribs, fried chicken, blackened catfish, mac and cheese) family style. Live bluegrass music is offered on weekend evenings.
Schlumberger Cellar: Private wine dinners and wine tastings. Primland's owners take care to keep an extensive wine list, as they own a Schlumberger Winery in Alsace. During our stay, we experienced the Virginia Wine Tasting with Seth, a fabulous sommelier, and learned about local viticulture.
Activities and Recreation:
Championship Golfing: Overlooking forests, valleys and the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Need to know
I highly recommend Primland Resort to travelers seeking a luxurious mountain getaway for a long weekend. It is great for families, couples, golf trips or quiet getaways. Our next visit will be when the weather is warmer and the wild rhododendrons (everywhere on the property) are in full bloom or when fall color is at its peak. We came a little too early in the season; it was very cold and the landscape was not in bloom. Despite the cold, we enjoyed the tranquility, views and activities and would love to return.
