Four Seasons Philadelphia Review
Curator’s statement

The Four Seasons Philadelphia has always been a special place for me. My husband and I would often go to JG Sky High for dinners and cocktails to celebrate special occasions. Being a Philly local, it was a nice place to go and treat yourself. It wasn’t until we stayed over night that we truly got to appreciate everything the hotel had to offer and the superb service from the entire FS staff.

Where to stay

Unlike other hotel lobbies that you enter when walking into the hotel, the FS Philadelphia’s lobby is on the 60th floor or as they say “above the clouds.” You take an all glass elevator up where you can take in the views of all the major Philadelphia landmarks.

We stayed around the holidays so the lobby had been beautifully and thoughtfully decorated to really make you feel like you stepped into a winter wonderland. Upon check in we were immediately upgraded to the Grand Cityscape room on the 59th floor with stunning views of the city. The bedroom connected to the bathroom with a double vanity, private bathroom and separate shower space. Past the bathroom was a large closet space with ample space for hanging various sized garments and drawers to keep your belongings in.

Despite being in a city, the amenities at the FS still make you feel like you’re at a resort. The spa is beautiful with each massage room walls made of different crystal types. My husband and I did a couples massage, which was wonderful. Prior to the service, we changed in the locker rooms that have everything you could possibly need with windows lining the entire wall allowing you to have another stunning view of the city. After changing, we were escorted to the  relaxation room where they have comfortable lounge chairs that once again, overlook the city along with complimentary snacks and drinks. We were celebrating my husband’s birthday so in addition to this, the staff brought him a small balloon, champagne and chocolates. The massage itself was enjoyable and the best way to wind down after a long month of holiday celebrations.

After the massages, we took a dip in the infinity pool that was surrounded by all windows to really give you the feeling of being “above the clouds.” Pro tip for the pool: stop by around 6:30-7 p.m. By this time, most of the kids are gone and there are only a few additional adults. My only advice to the FS is for the pool to be a few degrees warmer.

For dinner, we made a reservation at JG Sky High, which is on their top floor overlooking the entire city. If you go, make sure to make a reservation ahead of time and request a table by the window to really get the full experience. I was slightly disappointed as I made this request ahead of time, and we were seated in the middle of the restaurant. I noticed there was an open table so I asked if we were able to move and was told someone else had that table reserved but during our entire dinner no one sat there. Despite this minor disappointment we still had a delicious dinner. Their menu changes seasonly, but in all my times there, I’ve never had a bad meal so you can’t go wrong with anything!

In the morning we hit up the gym for a quick workout before we checked out. They had all the standard cardio and weight equipment you’d expect in a hotel gym in addition to complimentary water bottles, flavored water and apples.

Need to know

Overall I would give the Four Seasons Philadelphia a five-star rating. From the communication leading up to our stay, to the service during our stay, and everything in between, it was a great overnight staycation. It’s the perfect place to get away for the weekend whether you’re a Philly native like myself or out of towner.
