Curator’s statement
Being that Barcelona has amazing weather year-round, everyone loves to spend their time in the open air and what better way to do that than with a drink in hand, some music in the background, and most importantly, with beautiful views of this vibrant and colorful city! Barcelona has some of the best rooftop restaurants and bars that I have seen, so it was only right for me to compile a list of all my favorites so that everyone else can enjoy them too. Each one is unique in its own way, from the vibe and decor, to the type of views it offers, to the menus, but each is a top-tier spot to spend an afternoon or a night out and soak in the energy of Barcelona!

1. Hotel Colon Rooftop Bar:
This rooftop bar is one of the best hidden gems in Barcelona. Sitting at a prime location, directly opposite of the Barcelona Cathedral in the middle of the Gothic Quarter, the bar gives guests stunning views of the plaza and Cathedral as well as farther views of the beach. The chill yet vibrant atmosphere is perfect for any type of occasion: a date, drinks with friends and family, or a solo day! This is my absolute favorite rooftop in the city because not that many people know about it so it’s not too crowded, it’s a great spot to wind down after a walk around the neighborhood, and I love to see and feel the energy of the people in the plaza below, dancing with the street performers, browsing the vintage market on weekends, and taking in the beauty of this iconic neighborhood.
2. Rooftop at Nobu Hotel:
The name of our second choice speaks for itself! Of course we love a good Nobu getaway, the menu is always top notch, the cocktails are fresh and innovative, but what really gives the Barcelona Nobu the 'oomph' factor is its 360-degree view of the city. From the far-away Temple Expiatori del Sagrat Cor perched on top of a mountain just outside the city, to the Sagrada Familia, to the sea on the horizon, you can see it all! The vibe is beach club inspired, with a pool in the center of the space, and is open all day, every day.
3. AZUL Rooftop Barceloneta:
This restaurant and bar is perfect for those who want to be close to the ocean. Situated above the beach in Barceloneta, this day to night rooftop offers a delicious Mediterranean menu and all your favorite refreshing drinks. Perfect for a chill lunch or wait until evening for a fun night filled with Afro and deep house music until late!
4. Azimuth Rooftop Bar:
If, instead, you are looking for a more down-low, sophisticated place, this is the one! The space hosts both an indoor and outdoor section completed with luxurious white and red furniture, cozy couches, and a pool. The prime location in the high-end Eixample neighborhood gives stunning 360-degree views of the city.
5. Terraza del Sercotel Rosellón:
Another hidden gem of this city that you absolutely cannot miss! Enjoy the large wooden-decked space while looking directly at the most famous building in Barcelona: La Sagrada Familia! The streets below are bustling with people and it can get a bit overwhelming to be among the crowds of tourists, so this amazing spot is the perfect way to visit the attraction while also enjoying an easy-going and relaxing vibes.
6. The Rooftop at Serras:
This modern and luxuriously decorated rooftop is a lesser-known gem and one of the few rooftops that boasts views of the harbor. Their Michelin-starred chef curates a fresh and light menu for lunch and dinner in the summer, while cocktails are available year round! The large space hosts a total of about 120 people and becomes a lively spot with music on weekend nights.
7. La Dolce Vitae at Hotel Majestic:
With top-notch food by a Michelin-star chef, a large pool, and stunning views of the city, La Dolce Vitae is one of the most well-known rooftops in Barcelona, and for good reason! Go here for a sophisticated lounge vibe on the weekdays or for a lively weekend night.
Need to know
Although there are so many amazing restaurants down on the streets of Barcelona, I highly recommend visiting at least two rooftops while you're there because it is the perfect way to see some of the best sights of the city without being stuck in the crowds. This also goes for weekend nights, rather than being at an overheated and overcrowded club, these rooftop bars are a great way to spend your night with friends, music, and drinks!
