Curator’s statement
In January of 2023, I did a site inspection while staying at the beautiful new Secrets Moxché Playa del Carmen and Secrets Impression Moxché Resort and Spa in Mexico's Riviera Maya. The attentive staff took great pride in welcoming us to this adults-only, all-inclusive resort with a nod to nature. I would to stay here again and highly recommend it to my clients.

Location
The resort is located about one hour south of Cancun Airport in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. It's best to arrange transportation from the airport ahead of time, the hotel is a 10-min taxi ride to downtown Playa del Carmen (which can be arranged by the hotel). There is also an 18-hole golf course on-premise and three wedding venues: indoor, beachfront and/or rooftop (below).
Room categories
There are three room categories at Secrets Moxché Playa del Carmen. All guest rooms include unlimited dining, drinks, 24-room service, wifi, and waiter service at the pools and beach. There are three man-made cenotes, and seven pools, ranging from serene to a lot of activity. The room sizes start at 668 sq. ft. and include a furnished balcony or terrace. Guests also have the option to book a swim-out suite (Oceanfront Suite below).
The first room category is "Secrets Moxché Playa del Carmen". Guests booked in this category have access to 11 unique dining selections, including seven à la carte restaurants, one buffet, a grill and a café. The à la carte restaurants were very good and did not require reservations. We were always asked about any food allergies.
The next category up is the "Secrets Moxché Preferred Club Level" within Secrets Moxche which adds access to a rooftop restaurant (above) and a smaller rooftop infinity pool. Guests who stay here receive elevated concierge service, exclusive access to the Preferred Club lounge and designated areas throughout the resort, an upgraded suite in a premium location and enhanced room amenities.
We stayed in the highest tier which is a boutique hotel within a hotel. The "Secrets Impressions Moxché" category is located in a separate building and provides access to all of Secret Moxché's restaurants, bars, and pools as well as the Impressions-only amenities. These include an Impressions Bar with premium spirits, a 360° rooftop bar, a second rooftop restaurant, and a very large cabana-lined rooftop with an infinity pool, loungers, and sweeping views (above).
Impressions guests also have exclusive access to a private beach club area (above) and a restaurant (below) with more upscale gourmet dining and a smaller pool. We found this area of the hotel to be very relaxed and it was always easy to find a lounger or cabana. Never once did we feel rushed at a meal in the Impressions area. The waiters always made sure we were happy with our food and were very professional.
Our room (below) in the "Secrets Impressions Moxché" category was a modern 947 sq. ft. suite with double sinks, a soaking tub, a walk-in rain shower, and a terrace with a padded lounge bed, a single chair and a large jacuzzi. The oversized luxury, suites amenities also include dedicated butler service and in-room personal fitness equipment available upon request.
My site inspection (photos below) also included tours of the 2,088 sq. ft. Master Suite Ocean View and Swimout Suites. Secrets Impression Moxché also has a luxurious two-story Penthouse Oceanfront Suite and Presidential Beachfront Villa.
The beach
The only con to the resort is the beach. It's a bit rocky but it's gorgeous to look at and they did clear the seaweed every morning. I loved sitting under the Palapas at the ocean's edge. It is worth looking into seaweed levels in the Mayan Riviera in the Spring/Summer. Hurricane season is also a consideration during the Fall. I visited another resort in Tulum at the end of October last year and we had one full day of rain from the bands of a hurricane, but it did not ruin the trip.
Need to know
I recommend Secrets Moxché Playa del Carmen and Secrets Impression Moxché Resort and Spa to my clients looking for a honeymoon or a romantic couple's getaway. It would also be fun for a girl's getaway or multi-couple trip. And absolutely gorgeous for a destination's wedding. Reach out and let me plan your perfect Mexico vacation!
