Villa Petriolo is a historic estate with origins dating back to the 16th century. Originally a thriving rural estate, it has been masterfully restored to honor its heritage while embracing modern sustainable luxury. The villa offers 35 rooms and suites, each thoughtfully designed to retain its original charm with features like antique flooring and frescoed ceilings.

Amenities

We stayed three nights at Villa Petriolo in the poolside junior suite. Our room offered a private courtyard and sweeping views of the picturesque hillside. The room was appointed with luxurious linens, exclusive hygiene products sourced from the estate and a spacious bathroom with a marble shower featuring a rainforest showerhead. A lovely touch is the villa’s policy of allowing guests to purchase their unused shampoo, conditioner, hand soap, body wash and room spray at a 50% discount. A perfect, sustainable souvenir from your stay.

Staff

From the moment we arrived, we felt like part of the Villa Petriolo family. The staff is warm, welcoming and genuinely attentive. We had the pleasure of meeting a wedding planner at dinner, and she praised the team’s kindness and authenticity, which further affirmed our experience of their exceptional service.

Dining

Villa Petriolo offers a range of dining experiences with four on-site restaurants. We dined at Osteria di Golpaja, Mater Longevity Bar and PS Ristorante during our stay. Every morning, breakfast at Golpaja featured an incredible array of locally sourced products, along with fresh ingredients from the villa's own farm. The highlight of our culinary experience was at PS Ristorante, which holds a prestigious green Michelin star for its commitment to sustainability. We indulged in a tasting menu paired with wines from the region and participated in a fun game with the sommelier, “Blind Man’s Buff,” where we guessed the wine region. A key highlight: winning the game and being rewarded with a jar of honey made on the estate — a sweet reminder of our time there.

Spa

Mater Wellness offers a variety of treatments, including massages, facials and foot reflexology. We enjoyed full-body massages, and the following day, we returned to take full advantage of the spa’s day pass. The day pass grants access to the sauna, steam rooms, pools, cold plunges, hot tubs and tranquil lounge areas. The spa offers three pathways to choose from — Relax, Energize or Detox — ensuring a tailored experience for every guest.

Activities

One of the best parts of the Villa is that you don't have to leave to enjoy the countryside. Guests can partake in a range of activities, including cooking classes, truffle hunting, hiking along scenic footpaths and wine tasting experiences. Our favorite activity was wandering the villa’s footpaths, where we encountered the farm’s friendly animals. We particularly loved the adorable truffle dogs and baby sheep.
