Curator’s statement

I had the absolute pleasure of completing a sight inspection at Standard Spa Miami Beach. I also stayed there for three nights, so I have lots to share.

Unlike other Standard hotels, Standard Spa Miami Beach identifies as a Spa with guest rooms rather than a hotel with a spa. They are known for their Turkish Hammam style spa and guests are able to come and go as they please and enjoy Eucalyptus Steam, Sauna overlooking the water, Cold room, Cold Plunge, Ice Room and hot soaks. In addition to the complimentary access to these features, guests can also book incredible massages. The gym is also very elevated with Pelaton bikes and treadmills.

Another feature is that Standard Spa is Adults-Only. I am not sure there are other hotel options like this in Miami Beach, but this makes it a great base for Bachelorette trips, couples getaway and girls getaways. Note that the hotel lobby and one of the restaurants, Lido are open to the public so children will be found in those two areas.

The pool overlooks the bay and there is a latter down into the ocean should you fancy a dip in the salty water. Note that there is no beach at Standard Spa. They are located on Belle Island on the bay side of Miami Beach. Guests can enjoy paddle boarding and canoes. The pool is very large and has wonderful service. I enjoyed staking out a lounger facing the bay rather than the pool so I had the sound of the bay without the mess of the sandy beach.

They have eight room types and even the smallest (The Standard Medium) was spacious and included a day bed. Note that some of the garden rooms are on the pathway to the public restaurant and are only secluded by a drape, so if your clients wish to stay in a garden room, I would request that it be on the back side of the building so they have more privacy and less sidewalk noise.

The Standard Spa does have a speakeasy type bar in the hotel lobby, but otherwise doesn't have the club offerings that Standard Highline has. There is also a lobby cafe serving smoothies, coffees, juices, sandwiches and salads from 7 am to 4 pm. Then there is the Lido Restaurant that is open to the public and is situated on a deck overlooking the Bay. Remember children are invited to dine at this restaurant. And then there is the Belle which is the poolside restaurant serving guests and members only. They will serve you lounge side or you can enjoy a table if you wish.
