4 of the most romantic getaways in Texas

Read on for four of the most romantic getaways in Texas.

    1. San Antonio: a culturally rich Old-World bastion in Central Texas

The historically significant San Antonio is a great destination for couples who want an intimate yet vibrant setting for their couples trip.

The city was originally founded by the Spanish, then briefly held under Mexican control until it famously declared its independence — which only lasted for about a decade before the United States annexed Texas in 1845. All that to say, the city remains one of Texas’ most diverse, and this manifests itself in just about every way.

Notable areas include the River Walk, which is lined with neat shops, bistros and bars, The Alamo (you don’t have to remember it if you’re standing in it) and the Spanish Mediterranean-themed Majestic Theatre, which regularly hosts concerts and Broadway shows.

As for accommodations, San Antonio delivers. Some of Texas’ ritziest and most romantic hotels, like Mokara Hotel & Spa, can be found here.

    2. Austin: a fun & trendy romantic getaway in Texas

Only about an hour and a half north of San Antonio, you’ll find Austin, Texas’ quirky capital-slash-indie-enclave. The vibe is much more contemporary, and perhaps best summed up by its fun motto, “keep Austin weird” (in the best way).

The city boasts an excellent (and eclectic) music scene and is well known for its many festivals held throughout the year. If you’re looking for a lively romantic Texas getaway, it’s really hard to be bored here — there are just so many neat things to do in Austin.

Accommodations-wise, there are a lot of great hotels in Austin. One of our favorites, Hotel Saint Cecilla, for example, is an Austin boutique hotel perfect for couples seeking an intimate hideout that’s not too far from the city’s coolest sights.

    • Breakfast daily.

    • Upgrade & extended check-in/out whenever possible.

3 & 4. The Dallas-Fort Worth Area: one of Texas’ coolest metropolises

The Greater Dallas-Fort Worth Area — which is made up of (you guessed it) the cities of Dallas and Fort Worth — is not lacking in options for couples, or anyone, really.

Spending a perfect weekend in Dallas starts with taking in the city’s sights. The nifty Arts District which is home to many of Dallas’ best museums, like the free Dallas Museum of Art. Klyde Warren Park regularly hosts tons of food trucks serving authentic Tex-Mex and beyond. And Deep Ellum, the site of Dallas’ blues scene, is filled with cool nightlife venues, great restaurants and the like.

Meanwhile, Fort Worth has a much more historical vibe, but in a way that’s unique from San Antonio — the former leans heavily on Texas’ cowboy culture, while the latter is better known for its Old-World roots.

One of our favorite places to stay in Dallas (and one of the most romantic getaways in Texas) is Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek. This five-star resort is exceptionally elegant, featuring expansive rooms and suites along with elite amenities.

Fora Perks at Rosewood Mansion On Turtle Creek:

    • $100 food / beverage credit.

    • Breakfast daily.

    • Upgrade & extended check-in/out whenever possible.
