Luxury Hotels in Marrakech: Our 5 top choices

Marrakech is one of Morocco’s best places to visit. Its medina is nearly 1,000 years old and still buzzes with traders, vendors and street performers, not to mention a surplus of grand landmarks (see things to visit in Marrakech).

We’ve rounded up a list of a few of the best hotels Marrakech has to offer. When you’re choosing, know that location is one of the major factors: you’ll either stay in the medina itself or a short drive away. Generally speaking, it’ll be easier to get around if you’re in the medina, but you’ll sacrifice the space that the farther away properties offer. Choose what’s right for your style (and if you need help choosing, a Fora Advisor can always share insight here).

    1. Royal Mansour Marrakech: an elite, riad-style hotel commissioned by the King of Morocco

Commissioned by King Mohammed VI of Morocco and meant to host VIPs from all over the world, Royal Mansour treats guests to an exceptional stay in Marrakech. Our guide to Royal Mansour Marrakech has the full lowdown, but here are the highlights.

First, the hotel consists of a collection of 53 luxury riads — traditional Moroccan homes — set across 13 well-manicured acres. Despite the size, the hotel is close to the Marrakech Medina. You can walk to the main square of the medina in a few minutes, so the convenience factor is hard to beat.

Speaking of the medina, that’s the concept here: a “medina within a medina.” This allows guests to enjoy unbeatable privacy and lavish amenities while being deeply immersed in Moroccan culture at its most luxurious. In fact, this is the type of hotel that has hidden tunnels for staff, specifically so guests can enjoy unparalleled room service and a quiet, intimate vibe across the property.

Fora Perks at Royal Mansour Marrakech:

    • $100 food / beverage credit, breakfast daily, upgrade & extended check-in/out whenever possible.

    2. Four Seasons Resort Marrakech: a 5-star Marrakech hotel that’s great for families

Four Seasons Hotel Marrakech was one of Fora’s top-booked hotels in Morocco last year, and we don’t expect that to change.

The property is inspired by the riad style mentioned previously, but with a Four Seasons take. Cultural immersion is a focal point and excursions beyond the grounds are encouraged and facilitated by Four Seasons’ excellent concierge team.

Accommodations-wise, the rooms and decor are classy, with neat local touches. The restaurants are excellent and diverse. And the service is great. Where Four Seasons Resort Marrakech really shines, though, is in its family offerings. There’s a fantastic kids' club where parents can really feel comfortable dropping their little ones off while they enjoy the resort's amenities or explore the city. The kids’ club has both indoor and outdoor activity areas. Inside, you’ll find plenty of space for crafts, a mini-kitchen for playful treats and a little theater area for children to put on performances.

By the way, Four Seasons’ Casablanca hotel is an excellent choice if you’re looking for hotels in Casablanca, Morocco.

Fora Perks at Four Seasons Resort Marrakech:

    • When you book Four Seasons through Fora, you will enjoy exclusive Four Seasons Preferred Partner benefits. Your advisor will be pleased to give you more details.

    3. Mandarin Oriental, Marrakech: a beautiful and massive resort with a unique feel

Marrakech’s Mandarin Oriental property sits on nearly 50 acres of gorgeous gardens and Moroccan-inspired architecture. Here, you don’t have to choose between beautiful rooms, stunning views and exciting common spaces. Mandarin Oriental checks all the boxes.

During our recent scouting trip to Morocco, one of the things our Fora Advisors immediately picked up on was how well the resort uses natural lighting as part of its “enjoy the sun” concept. Every space — whether a guest’s room or a common area — is designed to let in a ton of natural light. The property is relaxing during the day, but at night, there are fun events going on, like live music and dancers. But don’t worry: if you’re craving an early night, you won’t have any trouble relaxing in your room since the property is so spacious.

Fora Perks at Mandarin Oriental, Marrakech:

    • $100 food / beverage credit, breakfast daily, upgrade whenever possible.

    4. Amanjena: a minimalist, design-forward luxury hotel in Marrakech

The Amanjena resort in Marrakech, our third-most-booked hotel last year, lives up to the Aman name. Per the resort’s team, “the peace, the quietness, the space…that’s luxury.” Guests will enjoy a tranquility that even the best hotels in Marrakech’s center don’t always provide.

How so? Amanjena is surrounded by very little aside from quiet desert. Aman’s signature symmetry-focused style and emphasis on clean living are carried on here, too. Fresh seafood is shipped in daily from Essaouira, Morocco (another great destination to visit on Morocco’s coast).

The trade-off for the distance: this 5-star Marrakech hotel is about 20 minutes from the medina. Naturally, you’ll want to plan accordingly for in-city experiences, but a 40-minute round trip really isn’t bad if you covet the seclusion and peace after a busy day of activities.

Need more intel on Amanjena? Book your stay with a Fora Advisor, who can also score you VIP perks.

    Fora Perks at Amanjena:

    • $100 food / beverage credit, breakfast daily, upgrade & extended check-in/out whenever possible.

(BTW: Exploring the desert — notably the Sahara, but also the Agafay — is one of our favorite things to do in Morocco.)

    5. The Oberoi Marrakech: a stunning example of Moroccan architecture doubling as a world-class hotel

Aside from being another one of Fora’s top-booked luxury hotels in Marrakech, The Oberoi wows with its decadence and commitment to authenticity and attention to detail — all of which makes The Oberoi’s case for being featured among the best hotels in Marrakech, Morocco.

Incredibly, the hotel’s architecture was handcrafted by artisans over a 10-year period. Inter-level units offer picturesque views of the Atlas Mountains and surrounding olive groves (each of the entry-level rooms has a private terrace). The property offers plenty of villa options as well, and they all include private plunge pools.

Insider intel: Oberoi is known for its attention to detail. The hotel likes to request certain details about its guests beforehand — such as slipper size, pillow preference, etc. — so they can better accommodate you after check-in.

Our rundown of The Oberoi in Marrakech, Morocco has more details if you’re interested (or you can always connect with a Fora Advisor, of course.)

One last point: the hotel is about 25 minutes from Marrakech proper.

Fora Perks at The Oberoi Marrakech:

    • Complimentary 50-minute massage, breakfast daily, upgrade & extended check-in/out whenever possible.
