I'll take any excuse for a getaway, but the impending arrival of a new baby seems like one of the very best we can think of.

Babymoons are popular for a reason — they offer parents-to-be a chance to unwind and get away from it all before the whirlwind of parenting begins. It’s a chance to reconnect and have important conversations leading up to such a big life change. Plus, it’s an opportunity for some well-deserved pampering (think spa treatments, languorous lunches and plenty of sun).

And while babymoons may not include the fullest of itineraries, it’s crucial to plan them thoughtfully. This starts with the right hotel, preferably one that is easy to reach, and offers plenty of amenities for the parents to be. Read on for several of my favorite resorts for a babymoon.

1. Park Hyatt St. Kitts - Banana Bay, St. Kitts & Nevis

Set on a paradisiacal stretch of beach in one of the Caribbean’s dreamiest enclaves, the Park Hyatt St. Kitts is a tropical standout. I love the hotel for a babymoon because it offers all the amenities of a five-star resort, from minimalist suites to exceptional spa & dining, along with plenty of local authenticity and style. And as of this year, JetBlue is offering direct flights to St. Kitts, meaning no layovers for our pregnant travelers.

2. Troutbeck - Armenia, New York

At this storybook woodland estate, babymooners can get their hygge on staying in stately stone cottages appointed in a cozy-yet-chic aesthetic. When not lounging on adirondack chairs and cuddling up by the fire, you can enjoy wellness classes (Pilates, restorative yoga) and excellent treatments at the destination spa, like gua sha and facial acupuncture. I also love their restaurant featuring ultra-local bounty.

3. Ambiente Sedona - Sedona, Arizona

My latest Sedona obsession is a true immersion to Sedona’s magic, with amenities celebrating the region’s red-rock formations, local art and sprawling canyons. The adults-only resort is comprised of sleek atrium guestrooms equipped with firepits and day beds, with terraces perfect for stargazing (could it get more romantic?). Parents-to-be can enjoy guided hikes, yoga classes and even crystal workshops, plus top-tier spa treatments like energy healing and reiki.

4. Post Ranch Inn - Big Sur, California

Perched 1,200 feet above the Pacific Ocean along the rugged cliffs of Big Sur, California, the Post Ranch Inn is one of the most romantic resorts in California, if not the world. Babymooners can expect breathtaking views of the coastline from the ultra-chic clifftop cottages and treehouses, plus world-class amenities, including a renowned spa specializing in rejuvenating treatments inspired by the elements. The restaurant is also worth traveling for: Sierra Mar offers an award-winning farm-to-table experience.

  • Fora Perks: $100 food / beverage credit, breakfast daily, upgrade & extended check-in/out whenever possible.

5. Naviva, A Four Seasons Resort - Punta Mita, Mexico

This adults-only, all-inclusive resort is all about intimate personalization, with a maximum capacity of 30 people, meaning babymooners are in for extra pampering. Expect enchanting tents with floor-to-ceiling windows, exquisite dining at the open-fire restaurant and everything wellness. My top picks for parents-to-be include yoga classes, meditation classes and sunrise nature hikes.

Located in Costa Rica’s lush paradise of Arenal National Park, Nayara's collection of luxury tents are equipped with private infinity pools fed by natural hot springs. Babymooners can enjoy breakfast on their private terrace before lounging in a hammock or venturing out for a guided rainforest hike. Don’t miss a treatment at the spa accompanied by the rainforest's soothing soundtrack — including rain & distant animal calls — incorporating materials like organic coffee and volcanic mud.

At this sleek & pampering Auberge resort on the shores of Riviera Maya, local culture is imbued into every aspect of the guest experience. Translation? Babymooners can relax in a spiritual and oasis-like setting just 30 minutes from the Cancun airport. The resort also offers a fantastic babymoon itinerary, including a romantic dinner (complete with mocktails), pre-natal massage and "bebestrology," a reading of the baby's astrological birth chart.
