Things to do in Miami

Experience the Magic of Miami

Being one of the most glamorous destinations in the world, Miami offers a wide range of activities for those seeking a fun-filled weekend getaway. Whether you're looking for relaxation or an adventure-packed experience, Miami has something for everyone. From its sun-soaked beaches and exciting nightlife to its vibrant art and culture scene and delicious food, Miami has everything you need for an unforgettable vacation. Here are just a few things to experience for the ultimate Miami getaway.

Hit the Beaches

Miami is known for its world-famous beaches, and you can't visit the city without soaking up some sun and enjoying the crystal-clear waters. Some of the most popular beaches in the city include South Beach, Key Biscayne, and Sunny Isles Beach. South Beach is the most popular beach and is the perfect place to soak up some sun, grab a drink at one of the beach bars, and people-watch. Key Biscayne is more secluded and offers a relaxing environment for those seeking peace and quiet. Sunny Isles Beach is perfect for families with its calm waters and plenty of amenities for children.

Head to the Design District

Miami's Design District is a perfect place to experience chic designer fashion and upscale restaurants in Miami. It is where you will find contemporary galleries, unique interior decoration pieces, and trendy shops where customers can buy various quirky items, including designer clothes and exotic shoes.

Explore the Street Art Scene

Wynwood Walls is a haven for local graffiti artists in the Wynwood neighborhood on the north side of downtown Miami. This spot as it's home to some of the most impressive and colorful street art in the city, painted by local artists that reflect Miami's unique style and themes. You can spend hours admiring the beautiful artwork while taking cute pictures.

Get a Taste of Cuba

Explore Cuban culture in Little Havana. Stroll Calle Ocho to experience Cuban art, music, and food streets. Enjoy a fresh Mojito at Ball & Chain, complete with live music and Salsa dancing. Highly recommend exploring via Food Tour and exploring the history of Little Havana through via your tastebuds.

Catch Epic Sunsets

South Point Park is a great location to witness the sunset, stroll along the beach, or picnic with Miami locals. The park is situated in the southern part of the legendary Miami Beach. It is an excellent spot for walking, jogging, and biking, with plenty of benches scattered around the park where you can sit and relax. Local Tip: Sunday sunsets offer a very authentic experience. Pack a picnic, some eats, and your favorite wine, and unwind to the sound of people on percussions.

Escape to Coconut Grove

Coconut Grove neighborhood offers Miami visitors an upscale and charming vibe, full of trendy cafes, stores, and exquisite restaurants. Visitors should pop into Coco Walk, a modern place where you can shop the latest fashion styles in Miami while enjoying a tasty coffee from one of the cafes.

Vizcaya Museum & Gardens

The Vizcaya Museum & Garden is a stunning place to visit, inspired by the Italian Renaissance style. It is a National Historic Landmark located in Coconut Grove, featuring a luxurious Italian-style villa, antique furnishings, and ample outdoor spaces with beautiful gardens. Visitors can stroll along the paths while taking breathtaking pictures and enjoying the stunning views of Biscayne Bay.

Places to eat & drink in Miami

A restaurant at night

Miami has also become a culinary destination, boasting a rich tapestry of flavors and styles reflected in its diverse food scene. From farm-to-table dining to traditional ethnic eateries, Miami has something for everyone. Here are some of my favorite culinary gems.

Doya

This Mediterranean restaurant in Wynwood is a gem where you can have a romantic dinner or meet up with friends for a laid-back evening. The menu contains delicious Mediterranean-style dishes, and the outdoor patio is perfect for soaking up Miami's warm weather while you dine.

Los Felix

This Michelin-star Mexican restaurant in the trendy Coconut- Grove neighborhood has an El Pastor you cannot pass up. Boasting a "multi-sensory celebration that honors truth through the flavor, imagination through natural wine, and atmosphere through vinyl records," Los Felix is definitely something to experience.

Stubborn Seed

Michelin-star Fare on South Beach, chef Jeremy Ford brings innovative dishes made using only the freshest and highest-quality ingredients. The service is impeccable, and the atmosphere is laid-back and welcoming, making it the perfect spot for an intimate dinner or a celebratory night out.

Lagniappe

The word Lagniappe is often used to describe something good, specifically receiving anything extra, and you definitely get that feeling from being there. Popular eclectic venue amongst locals, it is known for combining live music with great food and wine in a cozy atmosphere, and the menu is full of delicious dishes that are perfect for sharing. The wine list is impressive, with a wide range of options, and accompanied by a "build-your-own" charcuterie to accent the nightly live music. Tip: Get there early – no reservations, and spots fill up fast.

Salumeria 104

This rustic, low-key Italian trattoria serves up some of the most authentic Italian dishes in the city, and the staff makes you feel like family from the moment you walk in. The menu is simple and delicious, with all of the classic Italian dishes you know and love made fresh in-house daily. Salumeria 104 offers an "affordable, honest, and consistent cuisine which promises to impress the palate," with a casual, laid-back vibe perfect for lunch or dinner.

Mandolin Aegean

This Mediterranean oasis in the Design District with a beautiful outdoor patio that instantly transports you to a taverna on a Greek Island. Awarded a Bib Gourmand, it is dedicated to using local ingredients while incorporating Aegean techniques. According to the founders, husband, and wife team Ahmet Erkaya and Anastasia Koutsioukis, Mandolin captures the essence of a "dinner party that is thrown daily'.

Level 6 Rooftop:.

For those looking for a great view and a relaxed atmosphere, with delicious drinks and tapas, Level 6 Rooftop is the perfect spot. This rooftop bar, located above the equally exquisite Amal restaurant in the Grove, bodes an impressive skyline and offers a range of cocktails and drinks to enjoy while you soak up the view. A great place to gather with friends or to relax after a long day and sip stunning sunsets

Michaels Genuine

Michael's Genuine is a must-try if you're looking for a brunch spot in Miami. This trendy restaurant in the Design District has an impressive brunch menu, including classic brunch dishes with a modern twist. The lively and inviting atmosphere makes it a perfect spot to gather with friends or family.

Yardbird

A Miami classic, Yardbird is known for serving up some of the best-fried chicken in town. Featured in Anthony Bourdain's Parts Unknown, this restaurant has food for those seeking classic Southern comfort food with a twist of modern interpretations. Bourbon is king here, infused into their signature Maple Syrup and Bourbon lemonade.

Miami is a diverse and vibrant city with top-notch cuisine, trendy art scenes, and bustling beaches. With many cultural and culinary gems, Miami is a city that will continue to be a fantastic destination for any traveler.
