Day 1: Curated Catalan charm welcomes you
Upon check-in, you'll be welcomed into a home at Rocacorba Cycling. Choose from charming accommodations like the historical manor house Can Campolier, the rustic villa Can Benet or a spacious villa with a private garden — each restored to honor its previous use. You’ll find reference to the classic Catalan lifestyle in the tile choice, the simple finishes in the old workers' cottage and the refined French Country furnishings in the manor house. Hospitality runs deep for owners Ashleigh and Carl. Both raised in families that owned and operated B&Bs, they've created a haven that seamlessly blends Catalan comfort with a cyclist's soul. Their expert team is ready to guide you to Catalonia's hidden gems — a region uniquely nestled between France and Spain, with access to mountains, lakes, the coast and historical cities alike.
Day 2: The Rocacorba Challenge & restorative recovery
Today's adventure is the legendary Rocacorba climb. From the doorstep of Rocacorba, cycling routes are accessible — find your rhythm immediately as there are no city roads to be bogged down by. Rocacorba is unique in that they offer both cycling support and a place to stay under one roof. If you don’t bring your own bike, they have an onsite workshop and rentals, as well as bespoke guides! The workshop is built in the basement of the building, which was previously used for cattle. What were once troughs for the cattle are now bike stands, serving a new modern purpose.
Challenge yourself on this iconic route and enjoy breathtaking views as you conquer the ascent. Warm up through the volcanic region and enjoy as the views open up and reward your efforts. After your exhilarating ride, return to Rocacorba for a well-deserved yoga session led by Jess. The restorative poses will help you loosen up and unwind after the challenging climb.
If you fancy an on-foot adventure, hike or trail run up Rocacorba instead, accessible from the arches of the courtyard.
In the evening, take a walk down to the Banyoles lake. Enjoy a peaceful stroll along the lakeside promenade, rent a kayak or paddleboard for a closer look at the water or simply relax and take in the breathtaking views. As the sun sets, mosey on to Can Pericus for some casual bites and a drink!
Day 3: Girona
Swap the bikes for a walking tour in Girona, exploring the well-preserved medieval old town, Barri Vell, with its winding streets, ancient walls and iconic cathedral. Per Ashleigh’s recommendations, try coffee and cake at La Communa or La Fabrica, and plan for a meal at Idle Hands for a trendy and delicious experience. If you prefer to cycle this day, select the three- or five-hour Girona City Loop option so you can meet up with the rest of the group in town for lunch break.
For a unique perspective, stroll along the Passeig de la Muralla, the city walls, which offer breathtaking panoramic views. Sample local delicacies, fresh produce, and traditional tapas, soaking up the lively atmosphere by visiting the bustling Mercat de la Boqueria (market). In the evening, treat yourself to a delicious meal at a renowned local restaurant recommended by Ashleigh (options like Brots de Vi), or, for more local cuisine, Hors Categorie (for a memorable dining experience).
Day 4: Coastal delights
Today's route takes you towards the beautiful Costa Brava coastline. Choose between a challenging climb with stunning ocean views or a more relaxed route along the scenic coast through L’Escala. Stop for a refreshing swim or a delightful lunch at a charming beachside cafe. En route, enjoy some brews from Doskiwis Taproom.
Upon your return, enjoy a refreshing sauna session to soothe your muscles after a long day on the bike. In the evening, enjoy a relaxing dinner back at Rocacorba. A brand-new onsite restaurant will offer nutritious, delicious farm-to-table offerings from Chef Ryan. Choose between dinner with a view from the terrace or a front-row seat for the chef’s table experience. Expect to share a family-style meal amongst friends old and new.
Day 5: Indulge & unwind at Rocacorba
Wake up to a leisurely breakfast on the charming courtyard terrace, savoring fresh, local ingredients and the tranquility of the Catalan countryside. Immerse yourself in complete relaxation by the sparkling pool. Read a good book, soak up the sun or simply unwind and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the countryside. Treat yourself to a rejuvenating massage or yoga session. If you’re feeling more active, stroll through the picturesque grounds, olive groves and hidden corners. Saddle up for a scenic horseback riding adventure through the Catalan countryside, a unique way to explore the landscape and experience the beauty of the region from a different perspective. In the late afternoon, participate in a fun and interactive cooking class led by the talented chefs at Rocacorba. Learn the secrets of Catalan cuisine and gain hands-on experience preparing some delicious local dishes. Enjoy the fruits (or vegetables!) of your labor with a delightful dinner featuring your creations.
Day 6: Farewell to Rocacorba
Savor a final delicious breakfast on the charming courtyard terrace, soaking in the tranquility of the Catalan countryside one last time. Enjoy a leisurely morning by the pool, perhaps with a good book or a final yoga session to truly unwind before your departure.
As you say farewell to Rocacorba, your journey homeward likely takes you through Barcelona. Perhaps you've already factored in some time here, or maybe the allure of the city beckons for a few extra days. This concludes the sample itinerary, but your Spanish adventure doesn't have to end here!
