Curator’s statement
Amelia Island, nestled off the coast of Georgia, is a gem of natural beauty and vibrant culture. The island's pristine beaches, with their soft, golden sands and crystal-clear waters, offer stunning sunrise and sunset views that captivate visitors daily. The charming historic district of Fernandina Beach enchants with its quaint shops, art galleries and Victorian architecture. Food lovers can indulge in fresh, succulent seafood at local eateries like Timoti's Seafood Shak (yes, that is spelled correctly, lol) and Salt Life Food Shack, where the culinary offerings reflect the island's coastal heritage. Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy numerous activities, from kayaking through serene salt marshes and hiking the scenic trails of Fort Clinch State Park to my personal favorite, horseback riding along the beach and exploring the island's rich history through guided tours. Whether you're savoring the local cuisine, soaking in the natural splendor or engaging in thrilling adventures, Amelia Island promises an unforgettable weekend experience.

Day 1: Arrive in Amelia Island
Arrive in Amelia Island around midday. Check into one of our preferred partners, the Omni Amelia Island Resort and enjoy a leisurely walk along the beaches of Amelia Island to soak in the serene atmosphere. After working up an appetite, I recommend you indulge in dinner at Brett's Waterway Cafe. Delight in an outdoor dining experience with the sounds of the ocean as you savor your meal.
Day 2: Fort Clinch State Park
Wake up in your oceanfront room and drink coffee while appreciating the view from your balcony. Then, go to Fort Clinch State Park for a morning hike. Explore the historic fort and soak up the beautiful scenery. Head to Salt Life Food Shack for lunch, and feast on burgers, street tacos or poke bowls. Continue your day outdoors by kayaking through the scenic salt marshes with a guided tour. Look out for local wildlife, including dolphins and manatees. At the end of a busy day, dinner at Cafe'Karibo will be the perfect way to end another great day on Amelia Island.
Day 3: Ocean views & delicious foods
Spend a relaxing morning on the beach right in front of the hotel. Rent a beach chair and umbrella, and enjoy the sun and surf. Take a break from the waves to have lunch at Oceanside Restaurant. As casual as the beach, Oceanside offers flip-flop-friendly views of the ocean with authentic local seafood tastes. After a meal like that, you'll want to visit the Wellness Spa at the Omni for a spa afternoon. Treat yourself to a massage or facial for ultimate relaxation. I recommend David's Restaurant & Lounge for dinner. Indulge in an upscale dining experience with dishes like lobster tail and prime rib.
Day 4: Fernandina Beach
Begin the day by taking a guided walking tour of Fernandina Beach to learn about its rich history and vibrant culture. Afterwards, The Patio Place is a great place to stop for lunch. Delight in crepes, sandwiches and other delicious brunch items in a charming outdoor setting. Following a light lunch, visit the Amelia Island Lighthouse, one of the oldest lighthouses in Florida. Enjoy the scenic views and learn about its history. Add some spice to dinner and visit Espana Restaurant & Tapas. In a quaint setting, you can savor Spanish and Portuguese dishes, including paella and a variety of tapas. Delicious!
Day 5: Final day
Though it's time to say goodbye, take a final opportunity to soak up the beauty of Amelia Island. Visit the Amelia Island State Park for some last-minute exploration. Walk along the trails, bird-watch or try your hand at fishing. Before heading back home, be sure to stop at Hola! Cuban Café for lunch. Here you will enjoy Cuban-inspired dishes such as Cuban sandwiches and empanadas.
This five-day itinerary provides a balanced mix of relaxation, adventure and culinary delights, ensuring a memorable visit to Amelia Island. However, if you are looking to add days, you can fill them with horseback riding, golfing, fishing and hiking. The Amelia Island Museum of History and the Ferdinand Beach Historic District give you more chances to learn about the history and visit stores and galleries.
