Advisor - 4 Days in Magical Marrakech
Curator’s statement

Marrakech is a true experience for all the senses. It is so very rich in culture, unmatchable in the passion of its people, the vibrancy of colors, the decadence of architecture and the diversity of gastronomy. I returned from Morocco with a full heart and a sense of appreciation for the experience.

Day 1: Arrive in Marrakech

You are likely to arrive with the hustle and bustle of the busy Marrakech airport (customs fast-pass highly recommended). Check into your hotel/Riad and get the lay of the land. Once you’ve worked up an appetite, head to La Table de Souk at La Sultana Hotel. This beautiful rooftop restaurant offers views of the monuments and a menu of fresh market produce and the taste of heritage Moroccan products. Try the Detox Salad! Next, spend the afternoon relaxing by the pool at your hotel, soaking in some sun and listening to the call to prayer that can be heard throughout the day. At night, indulge in a traditional Moroccan dinner at Le Marocain. Here you will be transported into the splendors of a magnificent palace and the tastes of traditional Moroccan dishes. Lastly, take a guided tour of the Jemaa-el-Fnaa at night to catch the unique mix of popular Moroccan cultural traditions performed through musical, artistic and religious expressions every night for 100’s of years. It’s bright, busy and you are sure to see something different.

Day 2: The old city

Start your day with a visit to the monuments in the old city, starting with the Kutubiyya Mosque. Known for its striking minaret that towers over the cityscape, this historic mosque is not only a pivotal place of worship but also a symbol of Islamic art and culture in Morocco. Next, head over to the Bahia Palace. Built between 1866 and 1867 by Si Moussa, the Bahia palace is set over two acres in the middle of the Marrakech medina. It features 150 rooms, including a harem section located just off the sun-filled Court of Honour. Next, take a lunch break at the cozy Le Jardin, in the heart of the Medina. Once a Riad in the 1960’s, turned into a magical oasis, Le Jardin is a small piece of heaven with great good. Now that you have refueled, head into the souk to browse the thousands of vendors selling everything from leather, to rugs, slippers, spices, silver etc. I highly recommend using a guide to meander through the maze of vendors and negotiating! Enjoy dinner at La Trattoria for a candlelit Italian dinner by the pool, under the glass ceiling, which is truly magical.

Day 3: Spa day and Yves Saint Laurent

After a breakfast including some Moroccan mint tea, indulge in a traditional Hammam spa experience at La Maison Arabe. Leaving you rejuvenated, detoxified and relaxed. After you are done, grab a light bite and head to the Jardin Majorelle and walk through the impressive, vibrant gardens. Created by the French Orientalist artist Jacques Majorelle over almost forty years, it is gorgeous and packed with amazing photo ops! Then head next door to the Yves Saint Laurent Museum. A museum entirely devoted to the work of the legendary fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent, housing culture and sketches. End the night with dinner and drinks at the lively Rooftop DarDar. It is guaranteed that the music will be bumping, the cocktails will be pouring and you can savor some amazing bites while taking in the sunset from the roof.

Day 4: Agafay Desert

After a leisurely morning, check out of your hotel in Marrakech and make the 45-minute drive out to the Agafay Desert for an afternoon and night in a luxury camp. Relax by the pool, enjoy a quiet yoga session or ride a quad in the rocky desert. You must not miss taking a camel ride around sunset. These luxury camps are fully outfitted with fantastic food, drinks and amenities. Don’t forget to do some star gazing at the desert sky before bed!

Day 5: Last day

Wake up and head back to the airport with a huge smile and a full heart, remembering the wonderful time you had in Marrakech.
