Iceland is a stunning island known for its dramatic landscapes, geothermal activity and vibrant culture. It's often called the "Land of Fire and Ice" due to its juxtaposition of glaciers, volcanoes and views of the Northern Lights.

Places to eat & drink in Iceland

The image depicts someone holding two hot dogs in buns on top of paper outside.

Iceland and hot dogs have an unexpectedly strong connection! Hot dogs, or "pylsur" in Icelandic, are hugely popular in Iceland.

The Icelandic hot dog is typically made from a blend of lamb, pork and beef, giving it a unique flavor. What makes Icelandic hot dogs stand out is the condiments: a sweet brown mustard called "pylsusinnep," raw onions, crispy fried onions and remoulade, a tangy mayo-based sauce with sweet relish.

Heimahumar - Local Langoustine is a food truck that also sells hot cocoa, being in Iceland sometimes you need that. One of the best things about this food truck is not only the hot dogs but the location (Jökulsárlón).

Need to know

A hotel stay for two nights was included with our tour at Magma Hotel, which is the exact place we saw the sky dancing in colors!
