Advisor - Celebrate Pride & Summer in Amsterdam: A Colorful Cultural Escape
Curator’s statement

Amsterdam isn’t just a place I love — it’s home. Ever since I stayed with my aunt here as a child, I knew this city was where I belonged. I studied and worked here, raised my children here, and lived through every version of myself in this city. From dancing at legendary clubs like the Roxy and the iT in the late '80s — where Pride wasn’t a parade but a way of life — to now finding joy in the opera, ballet, and quiet mornings in the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam has always embraced every phase of who I am. That’s what makes Pride here so special: it’s not just a celebration, it’s a reflection of the city itself — bold, open, full of love and history. Whether you're coming to dance, to reflect or just to belong, you’ll find your place here.

Things to do in Amsterdam

Watch the Pride Canal Parade: 80+ boats float through the canals with DJs, drag queens and dancers — it’s Amsterdam’s most fabulous event of the year.

Visit the Homomonument: A powerful, symbolic site honoring LGBTQ+ history, located near the Westerkerk.

Take the ferry to Amsterdam Noord: Cross the IJ and explore Eye Museum, A’DAM Lookout or creative hotspots like NDSM.

Celebrate Amsterdam 750: The city marks 750 years with exhibitions, concerts and neighborhood festivals all summer long.

Experience SAIL Amsterdam: Only once every five years — tall ships, fireworks and harbor parties in mid-August.

Bike through the city: This is a great way to explore, but only if you’re confident. Locals don’t go easy on wobbly tourists.

Walk through the Nine Streets (De Negen Straatjes): Charming boutiques, cafés and vintage shops in the heart of the canal belt.

Visit the Anne Frank House: One of Amsterdam’s most powerful and visited museums — book well in advance.

Relax in the Pulitzer Hotel garden: Hidden courtyard for a peaceful coffee or lunch, even in peak season.

Places to eat & drink in Amsterdam

Pressroom at INK Hotel: Brunch, cocktail workshops and a festive Pride vibe in a creative setting.

Mr. Porter: Steakhouse meets rooftop glam at the W Hotel — great views and stylish people-watching.

Cecconi’s Amsterdam: Italian food with velvet vibes at the Soho House — romantic, moody and delicious.

De Drie Graefjes (Original Location): Locals know this is the spot for Red Velvet cake. A must.

Bar Prik: Laid-back LGBTQ+ bar with outdoor seating and a super friendly crowd.

Taboo Bar: Fun, flashy and always packed during Pride — located on the buzzing Reguliersdwarsstraat.

The Queen’s Head: Beloved drag and bingo bar — kitschy in the best possible way.

Toki: Minimalist café near the Jordaan with top-tier coffee and local vibes.

Eye Café: Waterfront dining with panoramic views, just across the IJ in Amsterdam Noord.

Need to know

Book early if you plan to visit during Pride, SAIL or the 750-year celebrations — the best hotels fill up quickly. Bring your glitter, sunscreen, and an open heart. Amsterdam is compact and walkable, with plenty of ferries and trams. Want to blend in? Rent a bike — but only if you can handle the traffic like a local. Amsterdam is welcoming, full of layers, and made for travelers who want to explore both the party and the poetry.
