Things to do in Budapest

Hungarian Parliament Building during the day - a large ornate white building with domed red roofs.

Take a tour at Hungarian Parliament Building and see its grand architecture.

Local attractions

Széchenyi Thermal Baths: Whether you book a full- or half-day pass to the spas, be sure to book a “changing room” to make your visit more comfortable. The spas are a must and filled with locals every day of the week.

Sunset cruise on the Danube: There are many cruise options, including ones with drinks and/or dinner. I recommend a 90-minute cruise before you head to dinner. Budapest from the water is a wonder!

Parliament Tour: Depending on your level of interest in history, book a self-guided tour or simply head to the Parliament building and walk the perimeter. This is beautiful night and day, so you may want to visit twice!

Jewish Heritage Tour: As an official tour or following various self-guided walking tours available online, stroll through the “Jewish Ghetto” and get a glimpse of history.

Places to eat & drink in Budapest

The Szechenyi bridge crossing the Danube at nighttime, buildings on either side, and a hill in the distance.

The view at nighttime while dining or drinking at Leo Rooftop.

Restaurants

Leo Rooftop: Views for days and delicious cocktails and nibbles.
Bestia: Go for brunch – you’ll find tourists and locals alike.
Halaszbastya: If you have something to celebrate, this restaurant is the perfect treat.

Bars

Tuk Tuk Bar: Best cocktails in all of Budapest – maybe even all of Europe! Great pre-meal happy hour destination.
Leo Rooftop: I like it so much, I’ve listed it twice.
High Note Sky Bar: Located in downtown Pest, next to St. Stephen’s Basilica, with amazing views and a swanky/exclusive vibe.
