Curator’s statement

Thailand is breathtakingly beautiful, and Chiang Mai is certainly no exception! This is a city you don’t want to miss as there is no shortage of experiences from hikes and waterfalls, wildlife and culture! Plus, the Khao Soi (a Northern Thai dish) in Chiang Mai is life-changing, trust me.

Things to do in Chiang Mai

Ethical elephant sanctuary

Ethical Elephant Sanctuary: Visit a retirement home for elephants that have been rescued from tourist entertainment — learn how to make their food and even give them a bath!

Doi Inthanon National Park: Take a scenic height to gorgeous waterfalls and meet some of the local village people. I highly recommend purchasing some coffee from the local coffee plantation!

Night Bazaar: Enjoy Chiang Mai’s largest night market - local foods, artists, shops and more! You might even get lucky to see a ritual performed at the temple.

Private Cooking Class in a Traditional Thai Home: Learn to cook authentic Thai dishes and learn about the traditional Thai culture by being a guest in a local home!

Wat Phra That Doi Suthep: Visit this magical temple on top of a mountain which is situated above the city of Chiang Mai. Receive a blessing at dusk from a monk and listen to the whisperings while enjoying the view!

Places to eat & drink in Chiang Mai

Khao Soi a delicious, traditional Thai curry dish with vegetables

Breakfast:

Vigie Sist Cafe: Beautiful café to enjoy coffee, tea, bagels and baked goods. The perfect way to start your morning before the adventure in Chiang Mai begins!

Fahtara Coffee: A fan favorite in Chiang Mai for coffee!

Lunch/Drinks:

TIME Riverfront Cuisine & Bar at Na Nirand Boutique Hotel: You won’t be able to beat this ambience and view, plus the drinks are absolutely delightful! If you can get a seat on the rooftop, I definitely recommend it.

Why Not? Italian Restaurant & Wine Bar: Surprised to see Italian on the list?! Trust me, this not only is the pasta delicious, but the red wine is something to write home about!

Khao Soi:

Khao Soi Mae Manee: Try the famous Northern Thai dish Michelin Star style!

Khao Soi Khun Yai: “Grandma’s” Khao Soi — this restaurant is tucked in an alley-way. This is also a perfect restaurant to enjoy the spices and flavor of Khao Soi.

Dinner:

The Good View Bar & Restaurant, Chiang Mai: The name doesn’t lie – outdoor seating with a beautiful view! Large menu selection with plenty of vegetarian options.

THE HOUSE by Ginger: “Cozy and quirky!” In terms of ambience, this restaurant can’t be beat. Enjoy the cocktail bar, a candle-lit dinner or outdoor seating on the terrace! The food is very authentic, and you are bound to leave satisfied.
