Philadelphia is a wonderful place to discover the history and culture of the United States, and it’s also one of the most lively and diverse cities in the country. A historic city, you can visit the landmarks of the American Revolution and the founding fathers, as well as enjoy the modern attractions and entertainment. Whether you want to see the Liberty Bell, the Rocky statue or the Philadelphia Zoo, you will find something to suit your interests. In general, Philadelphia is a lot more friendly and laid-back than other big cities and there are many opportunities to interact with the locals, especially through the delicious food and music scenes.

Things to do in Philadelphia

  • Independence Hall: This is where the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were signed, making it a must-see for history buffs. You can take a guided tour of the building and see the original documents on display.

  • Philadelphia Museum of Art: This is one of the largest and most renowned art museums in the country, with a collection of over 240,000 works of art. You can admire paintings by Van Gogh, Monet, Picasso and more, as well as sculptures, textiles and furniture. Don't forget to run up the famous steps and pose with the Rocky statue outside.

  • Reading Terminal Market: This is a historic and bustling market that offers a variety of food stalls, shops, and restaurants. You can find the best Philly cheesesteak here, a sandwich of thinly sliced beef, melted cheese, and onions on a soft roll. There are many vendors to choose from, but some of the most popular ones are Pat's, Geno's and Jim's.
