Things to do in Rhodes

Lindos-Acropolis-rhodes-travel-guide

Lindos

Lindos is a city located at the southern end of the island, situated on a hilltop with stunning views of the bay and beautiful beaches. Spend some time exploring the town’s shops, cafes, and restaurants, before ascending the area’s hills to the Acropolis of Lindos, which holds historic ruins of the Doric Temple of Athena Lindia, The Castle of the Knights of St. John, and an amphitheater. You can ride a donkey to the top, or it is about a 20-minute walk to the top. The views from the Acropolis will not disappoint!

Rhodes Town

Rhodes Town is a significant city to visit on your trip to Rhodes. Take some time to explore the medieval city, including the Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights of Rhodes, the Archaeological Museum of Rhodes, and the remake of the Colossus of Rhodes (which was one of the 7 wonders of the ancient world).

Butterfly Valley

Butterfly Valley is an exceptional nature reserve located inland on Rhodes Island. The area boasts dense flora, breathtaking natural beauty, and lovely bridges that blend seamlessly with the environment. The paved paths, small waterfalls, and serene atmosphere make it a unique experience. The reserve is best visited from May to September, and you can enjoy a drink or lunch at a nearby tavern with an amazing view of the waterfalls.

Day Trips:

I 100% recommend taking a boat tour from Rhodes! There are many options available for private and shared boat tours to crystal-blue bays and beautiful beaches where you can snorkel, swim, and explore the island, for a few hours to all-day excursions. There are also options to visit other islands nearby, such as Symi Island and even Marmais, Turkey. Boats leave from several ports, including Lindos, Rhodes Town, and Faliraki Beach, so choose the best option for you and enjoy the beauty of the Aegean Sea!

Places to eat & drink in Rhodes

Lindos-Village-rhode-travel-guide

Rhodes is a terrific place to eat amazing, authentic Greek cuisine. Definitely try several dishes at each restaurant you visit and change up you choose from night to night. You won’t regret it!

Milos at Kalathos Beach

An excellent stop on a boat ride to Lindos, Milos serves delicious, fresh, authentic Greek food. The staff was amazing and treated you like family and provided terrific recommendations – the hummus with fresh puta and chicken souvlaki were my favorites. Added bonus: the owner and his family also have a small boat rental business, so if you are staying near Kalathos Beach, this is a great place to get a boat to explore the island.
