Curator’s statement
One of my favorite cities in the world is Washington DC. The capital city of the United States is often solely perceived as the political hub and nothing more. But if you dig a little bit deeper, you’ll find that this city is bursting with culture. I’ve curated this three day itinerary to help you make the most of your trip to DC.

Day 1: Start in the Wharf District
Begin your day in the Wharf district at Toastique, a chain of gourmet toast and juice bars. I stumbled upon it when staying at the InterContinental The Wharf hotel and it's so unique. Get the avocado smash toast or you can opt for the PB Crunch if you prefer something sweet.
After, make your way to the National Mall. While here, explore the Lincoln Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, Washington Monument and The White House. Take your time to walk around each place and read the information provided. This is also a great place to get some good pictures of DC, so don’t forget to utilize the stunning buildings and scenery.
Later, travel west to Georgetown . Home to the world-renowned Georgetown University, this quaint neighborhood is a must visit. The university is an open campus, so have a look around it. Grab a late lunch at Call Your Mother deli, which sells the best bagels. After you’ve indulged in that, head to Main Street to get dessert at the famous Georgetown Cupcake. They have different flavors every month so check out some of those.
Day 2: Visit Congress
For you second day, make a brunch reservation at Residents Cafe & Bar in Dupont. A hip café that serves an array of brunch dishes, it's a relaxed environment to start you day. Once you’ve finished, take some time to explore Dupont Circle and the shops around there.
Later, make your way back to east side of the National Mall. Take a tour of Congress (note: you need to bring your passport to enter) and then explore the Library of Congress nearby. As there is a lot to look at, this should take you a few hours.
At sunset, head to Gravelly Point Park. Situated next to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, you can sit here and watch all the planes land, which is an amazing sight. Sunset is the best time to enjoy this for the best views.
Day 3: Explore Museums
Grab some breakfast at Tatte Bakery. This chain has multiple locations across the city, so find the nearest one to where you are staying. Have a sit down meal, or just order a coffee and pastry to go.
Then, make your way to Hirshorn Museum and Sculpture Garden. As it is a member of the Smithsonian Museums, it is free to enter and not necessary to pre-book. They usually have a few different exhibits on at the same time and are changed often. Afterwards, go to the International Spy Museum. This is a unique place to learn more about the history of espionage and you can participate in some fun activities.
If you are visiting during the MLB season, head to Nationals Park to watch a Washington Nationals game. American Baseball games have various traditions and the games last a long time, so make the most of the experience and the facilities available.
