Where to stay

Day 1: Arrive and explore Skiathos

Arrive at the only airport in the Sporades, located on the island of Skiathos. This small airport has direct flights from many places in Europe, such as London, Milan and Paris.

Check into your hotel in the main town of Skiathos and spend the rest of the afternoon at your leisure. Browse the storefronts for the perfect souvenir, take a dip in the island’s clear waters or simply relax at your resort.

For dinner, head to Basilikos Restaurant for authentic Mediterranean flavors before indulging in the nightlife of the island.

Day 2: A day of fun in Skiathos

After breakfast at your hotel, set out for a day of exploration! Get lost in the labyrinth of alleyways and snaking streets, stopping for coffee or to pick up a new outfit. Visit the museum of Greek writer Alexander Papadiamantis, which gives great insight into his work and the rich literary history of the island.

This afternoon, take advantage of the hot weather at one of the many beautiful beaches, like Koukounaries or Lalaria. For the adrenaline junkie, rent a jet ski or join a scuba diving tour.

After a day of fun in the sun, wind down with a delicious meal from Borzoi. This highly-rated restaurant marries the traditional Mediterranean with ingredients from around the world.

Day 3: Head to Skopelos

After breakfast, say farewell to Skiathos and head to the ferry for a quick ride to the neighboring island of Skopelos.

This place might look familiar to the movie buff - it is where the cult classic ‘Mamma Mia!’ was filmed.

Check into your hotel and pick up your rental car - the island is easiest explored by vehicle. Take the afternoon to relax in the hotel pool, stroll through the charming old town or find a secluded beach to sunbathe at.

Before dinner, head to Donkee bar at the top of the hill for a cocktail and incredible views of the sea before indulging in quality Greek cuisine at Olivo restaurant.

Day 4: Exploring Skopelos

Set out bright and early for a day of fun on Skopelos. First, head to the Church of Agios Ioannis Kastri. This tiny church sits atop a rock and has amazing views. But get there early — it was featured in the film ‘Mamma Mia!’ and gets crowded throughout the day.

On the way back from the church, make a stop at the picturesque Vathias beach to cool off. Once back in town, enjoy a lunch of souvlaki, Skopelos cheese pie or Greek salad.

This afternoon, head to Milia beach where you can sunbathe before your next excursion, a sunset paddle with Kayaking Skopelos. Pass by limestone rock formations and Aleppo pine trees while looking for marine animals on this relaxing tour.

After dinner, head to the small traditional village of Neo Klima for a fresh seafood dinner at Captain Spiros taverna.

Day 5: Sailing trip to Alonissos

Two beers in glasses on a table.

After another fresh breakfast, set off on foot to the marina, where you will board a boat for today’s excursion: a sailing trip to neighboring Alonissos Island.

This full-day adventure makes multiple stops on the island at places like the old town, a relaxing beach resort, and the National Marine Park of Alonissos. Keep an eye out for different species of gulls, dolphins and falcons, as well as the endangered Mediterranean monk seal. Feel the sea breeze on your face and wind in your hair as you journey through sparkling waters and blue skies.

Once back in Skopelos, wind down with a craft beer at Spira Brewing before a delicious dinner at Muses Restaurant.

Day 6: Scuba diving or a beach day

Street in town with shops, tables and chairs.

Following breakfast, set out for your last full day on Skopelos at your leisure.

Head to Panormos for a scuba diving trip or to Stafilos beach for scenic sunbathing.

Stay in town to shop and stroll, or take a short drive to the Monastery of Timios Prodromos to learn more about the Greek orthodox church and purchase handicrafts.

Later this afternoon, take a drive to the small town of Glossa, where you can visit a working olive oil factory before your final Skopelos meal. For dinner, indulge in specialty dishes and incredible views at the notable Agnanti Restaurant. Reservations recommended.

Day 7: Departure

Aerial view of Island.

After your final Skopelos breakfast, say farewell and head back to Skiathos on the ferry. From here, make your way to the airport and catch your flight. Until next time, Sporades!
