rock summit in jungle

Sigiriya Rock Hike:

  • Best to do early morning.

  • Allocate 2-3 hours for the hike to fully enjoy the experience

Polonnaruwa:

Day 2: Pidurangala Rock Hike & Spa

Anuradhapura is famous for being the ancient capital of Sri Lanka.

Pidurangala Rock Hike:

  • Ideal for an early morning hike

  • No guide needed for this hike

Anuradhapura:

  • First ancient kingdom of Sri Lanka, offering a vast area of historical ruins

  • Although the ruins are not as intact as Polonnaruwa, it still holds significance

Ayurvedic Spa:

  • This is your chance to experience one of oldest and most renowned medicinal practices in the world — the ancient healing technique of ayurveda

  • Athreya Ayurvedic Hotel & Spa is recommended

Day 3: Dambulla Cave Temple

Dambulla cave temple is a World Heritage Site in Sri Lanka.

Dambulla Cave Temple:

Day 4: Ceylon Tea Region

Train ride to Ceylon Tea Region.

This vibrant town in the heart of Sri Lanka’s hill country is a significant area for the tea growing regions. Your hotel will be a destination in and of itself.

Enjoy kayaking, hiking and make sure to spoil yourself with an afternoon high tea in flourishing gardens. Discover the art of tea, on an essential Tea Trails experience.

Hot Tip: Purchase train tickets for a scenic ride. Get a 2nd class ticket. Windows/doors in 1st class do not open which is a big part of this train ride experience. People literally sit with their feet hanging out of the door and open all the windows!

Day 5: Ella Rock
