Things to do in Ireland

A tranquil lake with a central island, encircled by mountains under a cloudy sky.
  • Kinsale, located on Ireland's southern coast, is a picturesque town known for its rich history, stunning harbor views and vibrant culinary scene. Its colorful streets are lined with charming shops, art galleries and traditional pubs. Kinsale is famous for its seafood, and visitors can enjoy fresh catches at local restaurants. Kinsale also attracts outdoor enthusiasts with opportunities for sailing, fishing and scenic coastal walks.

  • Walkable from the center of downtown and only a few euros, you will find the historic Charles Fort. Enjoy the spectacular views and learn about how this fort has protected Ireland for centuries.

  • A short trip away from Kinsale, visit the famed Blarney Castle & Gardens on a half-day excursion.

  • Killarney is known for its breathtaking natural beauty, notably Killarney National Park. The town itself is vibrant with colorful streets lined with shops, restaurants and traditional pubs offering lively Irish music. Killarney is a gateway to the Ring of Kerry, a roughly 4-hour scenic drive showcasing rugged coastlines, mountains and quaint villages. Visitors head to Killarney to explore its historic sites, and to enjoy outdoor activities like hiking, cycling and boat trips on the lakes.

  • Grab a horse-drawn carriage from the center of downtown for a guided tour through the national park. Typically lasting about an hour, this is a perfect way to enjoy the natural beauty of Killarney.

  • Stop by the Killarney House & Gardens, which is free to visit. Grab a coffee from their onsite cafe and enjoy a leisurely walk through the incredible property's grounds.

  • Connemara is a region of rugged beauty and untamed landscapes. Known for its vast expanses of bogland, lakes and mountains, Connemara offers a dramatic coastline one might not expect if they’ve never visited the western-most part of Ireland. The area is famous for its traditional Irish culture, with Gaelic still spoken widely and traditional music flourishing in local pubs.

  • Play a round at Connemara Golf Links, one of the top-rated courses in Ireland. Enjoy the ocean breeze and view of the Atlantic coastline while you make your way through nine or 18 holes.

  • Drive Sky Road Connemara, starting and ending in the town of Clifden. This panoramic drive lasts about two hours and will provide you with some of the most breathtaking views of the rugged coastline.
