Curator’s statement

Deciding on a destination for a girls' trip can be quite tricky. Stockholm, Sweden offers something for every girl in the group - no matter their travel style. Stockholm has got it all: sightseeing, shopping, spas, museums, boat cruises, you name it! Not to mention, delicious dining options and unique spots to grab drinks. We all agreed that we would like to return to Stockholm again just to eat - the food was seriously that good!

Things to do in Stockholm

Spa Day

An obvious choice on a girls trip and there are many amazing options to choose from in Stockholm.

Boat Cruise

Stockholm is made of islands. A boat cruise is a great way to relax and get a feel for the layout of the city. We really enjoyed seeing all of the ice floating on the water in March - you would never find that in our hometowns.

“Fika”

This is the traditional afternoon coffee/tea/pastry time - YUM! This is a great way to warm up.

Shopping

There are multiple neighborhoods with different vibes, you’re bound to find something cute to take home. Tip - Grocery stores don’t carry wine/beer. You can purchase it at the ‘Systembolaget’ (double check the hours in advance).

Walk around Gamla Stan (old town)

This is a super cute (and clean!) walkable area. You could easily spend hours meandering, shopping, and eating/drinking in this area.

Tip - Be careful, if you go in spring - there can still be snow/ice on the ground. Next time we will bring better shoes.

Changing of the guards

(Times vary based on season). A nice insight to Swedish traditions.

Museums/Galleries

Vasa Museum, ABBA: The Museum and Fotografiska art gallery, just to name a few.

Strolling without a plan

This is a city where you could just wander and see where you end up!

Tip - Be on the lookout for photo opportunities.

Places to eat & drink in Stockholm

Geronimos FGT restaurant Stockholm

Gastabud - Delicious Swedish food, great service and wine. Definitely not an IKEA meatball.

Tip - Get there early - they don’t take reservations.

Farang - Southeast asian. Flavorful and filling. I can’t wait to go back!

Boqueria

A nice spot for brunch or lunch. Great after a morning at the spa.

Tak - Restaurant and rooftop bar. Fun vibe for cocktails at night.

Aifur - Viking-themed. A great place to warm up on a cold night while enjoying Viking entertainment.

Greasy Spoon - Filling brunch. Great way to start your girls trip, especially if you arrive Friday morning.

Tip - They don't take reservations.

Geronimos FGT - We loved this gem! We planned to stop in just for a drink, but ended up staying to eat.

Pharmarium - Historic spot for creative cocktails and friendly service.

La Neta Soder - Quick and tasty taco spot. So good that we kept ordering more!
