Private sunset cruise on the Mekong River: A serene way to take in the breathtaking views of the landscape and sunset. Many operators offer customizable cruises, allowing you to enjoy a leisurely ride while sipping drinks and snacking on local delicacies. You might also stop at small riverside villages or enjoy a beautiful sunset over the water, making for a romantic or peaceful experience.

Mandalao Elephant Sanctuary: On this therapeutic trek, you’ll wander through the jungle alongside two adult elephants, surrounded by beautiful streams and lush rice fields. The trek is about 2.5 km round trip, offering a unique way to connect with nature and these gentle giants. After your trek, you can enjoy a delicious lunch at the Mandalao property, making for a perfect day of adventure and relaxation!

Alms offering: Participating in the morning almsgiving ceremony is a unique cultural experience. Each day, local monks walk through the streets to collect offerings from the community. Visitors can respectfully offer sticky rice or fruit from their own collection, following local customs.

Meditation with a Buddhist monk: If you’re looking to find some inner peace, consider joining a meditation session with a Buddhist monk. Many monasteries offer these sessions, where you can learn about meditation techniques and Buddhist philosophy. It’s a calming experience that can really help you reconnect.

Visit one of the many Buddhist temples: Luang Prabang is home to numerous stunning Buddhist temples. Wat Xieng Thong is a must-visit, known for its intricate architecture and vibrant mosaics. Other notable temples include Wat Mai, which has beautiful golden decorations, and Wat Phu Si, located atop Mount Phousi, offering stunning views of the city.

Luang Prabang Night Market: A vibrant and bustling experience. It runs nightly along Sisavangvong Road, featuring numerous stalls selling local handicrafts, textiles and street food. It's a great place to pick up unique souvenirs, from handmade bags to intricate jewelry. Make sure to try some local delicacies at the food stalls, such as grilled skewers, fresh spring rolls and coconut desserts.

Day trips:

Day Trip to Kuang Si Waterfall: Kick off your day with an early morning pickup for a trek to Kuang Si Waterfall, which takes about one to two hours through lush forests and charming local villages. Upon arrival, dive into the stunning turquoise pools and explore the cascading waterfalls. Enjoy some time relaxing by the falls, taking in the beautiful scenery, before heading back to Luang Prabang in the late afternoon, feeling refreshed and inspired by the natural beauty of the day.

Day trip to a textile village: Start your day with a boat ride on the Mekong River to Ban Phanom, a nearby weaving village. Here, the unique weaves reflect the identity of local hill tribes, each with its own style. You’ll have the chance to see artisans at work, witness the intricate weaving process — which can take weeks or even months for a silk skirt — and chat with the locals. After exploring and shopping for beautiful textiles, enjoy the relaxing river views on your way back to Luang Prabang.
