Things to do in Singapore

Aerial view of a city at nighttime

There’s something for everybody in this lion city!

Singapore River Cruise: Enjoy a scenic boat ride along the historic Singapore River, passing by landmarks such as Marina Bay Sands, Merlion Park, Clarke Quay and Boat Quay, while learning about the city's rich history.

Gardens by the Bay: Explore the futuristic Supertree Grove, Cloud Forest, and Flower Dome for a breathtaking botanical experience (also to escape the humidity in the temperature controlled dome).

Hawker Centers and Food Streets: Indulge in Singapore's diverse culinary scene at hawker centers such as Maxwell Food Centre, Chinatown Complex, and Lau Pa Sat, where you can savor a variety of local dishes at affordable prices. You can also take up a local food tour where the guides will bring you to check out all the different types of local cuisines and cover the different stories on why certain dishes are uniquely Singaporean (or why are some a spin off of our neighbors).

Heritage districts - Chinatown, Little India, and Kampong Glam: Immerse yourself in the rich cultural heritage of these vibrant neighborhoods, exploring colorful temples, mosques, bustling markets, and sampling delicious local cuisine. Insider tip: There are plenty of great coffee cafes in this heritage area, hidden gems popping up almost every month.

Sentosa: Spend a day at this entertainment island, enjoying attractions such as Universal Studios Singapore, S.E.A. Aquarium, Adventure Cove Waterpark and an array of beach clubs options

Singapore Zoo and Night Safari: Experience one of the best zoos in the world with wildlife up close in the lush surroundings during the day, and embark on a nocturnal adventure at the Night Safari to see nocturnal animals in their natural habitat. Insider tip: If you are looking for an exciting breakfast experience, book the Breakfast with Orangutans experience which starts at 9 a.m. Families with kids score this their best zoo experience in the world!

National Gallery Singapore: Discover Southeast Asian art and heritage in this impressive museum housed within the historic City Hall and Supreme Court buildings. Insider tip: you can combine this with a rooftop drink with direct views on the Marina Bay Sands or a lunch at a chic local Peranakan restaurant in the same building!

Orchard shopping: Do what the SIngaporeans do best - Shop till you drop at Singapore's premier shopping belt, Orchard Road, home to some of the Asia’s largest luxury flagship stores and home grown brands at ION Shopping mall.

Day trip

Pulau Ubin: Escape the urban hustle and bustle with a day trip to this rustic island, where you can cycle through mangrove forests, visit traditional villages and enjoy nature trails.

Places to eat & drink in Singapore

An outside dining area next to a body of water with a view of the city

Breakfast/Brunch:

Summer pavilion - Ritz Carlton: One of the chicest dim sum spot in town - we don’t expect any lesser from the Ritz! They serve up one of the best dim sum in Singapore and the tableware and vibe is exceptional. You definitely do need to book this in advance. Insider tip: Ask for the cushion seats in the center of the restaurant if you are with three to four, and the booth seats if you’re two.

Champagne brunch at LAVO: Nothing is a better combination than a bird’s eye view of Singapore and champagne on the 57th floor.

PS. Cafe Dempsey: This cafe sits in the lush greenery of Dempsey, great brunch menu and kids friendly! You don’t feel like you’re in a bustling city when you are here, great to start your morning slow and peaceful isn’t it! Tip: Take the outdoor seats!

Common man roasters Sentosa: This cafe sits in Sentosa and directly facing the harbour. This is one of my favourite to go brunch spot, has the combination of everything - fantastic views, out of the world coffee (probably the best in singapore for me!) and amazing service. Tip: Go early around 10 a.m., they don’t take any reservations. If there’s a queue, you can probably pop in the salon next door for a mani/pedi while waiting for a spot or take a walk round the harbour for some great photos.

Lunch/Dinner:

Violet Oon National Gallery: A selection of local Peranaken cuisine sophisticatedly presented and sits inside the National Gallery. Enjoy your time in this magnificent building.

Claudine - Dempsey: A French neo brasserie that serves up timeless classics and personal recipes housed in an old church. Service here is top notch, and you will enjoy a romantic evening out! This is a sister restaurant of the widely renowned three Michelin star restaurant Odette.

Euphoria: A culinary journey to be experienced. This needs in advance reservations.

Cloud street: A progressive yet sophisticated gastronomy experience, you are in for a treat at this spot.

Mott 32 Singapore: One of the best Peking duck and they offer a wide selection of fine Chinese cuisine. Tip: They make amazing cocktails too! Also choose your seats deep inside the restaurant, preferably not the booth seats.

Jypsy One Fullerton: Japanese fusion cuisine if you are craving sushi and great views of the MBS

Drinks spots:

Capella Bob’s Bar (cocktails in the oasis)
Burnt ends bar (amazing cocktails with dark ambience)
Jigger & Pony (top 50 bars in the world!)
Smokes & Mirrors (best view of MBS)
Mama Diam (the best local experience!)
Elephant Room (out of the world fusion cocktails)
Tippling Club (top 50 in the world)
Southbridge (rooftop overseeing the quays!)
Mr Stork (rooftop bar overseeing Singapore)
