Day 1: Arrival & easing into island life

Part of what makes Formentera so special is its remoteness — there are no airports here, which means your journey begins with a scenic boat ride from Ibiza. If your budget allows, I highly recommend arriving in style via private boat, heading straight to Besos Beach for a lively, flavor-packed lunch. There’s nothing quite like stepping off a boat and straight into a beachfront feast. If you're traveling on a budget, no worries — frequent ferries run every hour during peak season, with journeys ranging from 30 minutes to an hour.

After lunch, hop in a taxi with your luggage and head to Dunas de Formentera, the island’s first eco-luxury resort. It’s truly unique as it's tucked among the dunes, this barefoot paradise lets you step straight onto the sand from your private suite. Ditch your shoes — you won’t need them here. Take a moment to settle in, explore the hotel's amenities and soak up the feeling of total disconnection.

As the sun dips low, keep things easy with dinner at Caliu, the hotel’s open-air restaurant. With a golden-hour view over the Mediterranean and a peaceful ambiance, it's the perfect way to wind down after a travel-filled day. Tomorrow, the island awaits — but for now, let the sea breeze and soft candlelight ease you into Formentera’s slow rhythm.

Day 2: Slow mornings & seaside feasts

Wake up completely relaxed, step out onto the soft sand and stroll barefoot to breakfast — complimentary when booking with Fora. Ease into the day at your own pace or, if you’re feeling active, take advantage of Formentera’s stunning natural landscapes. Rent a bike to explore the island’s scenic trails or head out for a leisurely coastal hike, soaking in the rugged beauty of the Balearics.

If you've opted for a bike ride, continue your adventure to Es Codol Foradat for a long, sun-drenched lunch. Nestled right on Migjorn Beach, this laid-back yet stylish spot serves up fresh, local Balearic cuisine. Be sure to book ahead — its beachfront setting and incredible flavors make it a sought-after spot. Hand-pick your fresh catch of the day, have it perfectly grilled and pair it with a chilled bottle (or two) of rosé.

After lunch, bike back to Dunas de Formentera, a breezy 15-minute ride. Let the afternoon unfold lazily — find a quiet stretch of beach, sink into the sand and embrace the island’s unhurried pace. There are no fixed sun loungers here, but the hotel reception can provide charming rattan-style chairs and umbrellas upon request. These are first come, first served, so check if any have been returned — or plan ahead and snag yours early tomorrow.

Day 3: Sun-soaked farewell & sunset sips

It’s your last day, so make the most of Formentera’s crystal-clear waters. Borrow some rattan-style chairs from the hotel and settle in for a blissful beach day. If you feel like stretching your legs, take a leisurely stroll along the shoreline — just know that topless sunbathing is common here, adding to the island’s effortless, laid-back vibe.

When you’re ready for a break from the sun, head to Chiringuito KM11 (formerly the legendary Piratabus beach bar), conveniently located next to the hotel. This no-frills, beloved spot is perfect for sipping a refreshing mojito while soaking up sunset views and Balearic beats. The vibe is effortlessly cool, with a mix of locals and in-the-know travelers gathering to toast the day’s end.

For your final dinner, head to Pecador, a vibrant seaside restaurant known for its lively atmosphere and creative take on Mediterranean flavors. It’s the perfect spot to wrap up your trip with a memorable meal — whether you’re indulging in just-caught seafood, sipping on natural wines or simply letting the island’s magic linger a little longer.

Day 4: A farewell feast & planning your return

It’s your last day, but don’t be surprised if you find yourself tempted to stay just a little longer. After checking out, take a taxi to the ferry terminal — though if time allows, make a final stop at Can Carlitos, a charming waterfront spot just steps from the dock. Indulge in one last taste of the island with tapas and a perfectly cooked paella, all while soaking up dreamy sea views.

As the ferry pulls away from Formentera’s shores, let the memories linger — and, if you're like most who visit, start planning your return before you've even made it back to Ibiza.
