A big rocky structure in sea.
Curator’s statement

I’ll be honest — Mauritius wasn’t always on my radar, in fact, before I moved to Mauritius I didn't even know where it was!! But life brought me here and after spending some time on this breathtaking island, I’m head over heels in love with this little rock in the Indian Ocean. The beaches are so pristine they look photoshopped, the water is so blue and so clear you can see to the bottom and all the fish in between, where every meal is a burst of multicultural flavors and the locals greet you with the kind of warmth that makes you feel instantly at home. That’s Mauritius for me — a little island with a whole lot of heart.

Visit Port Louis

Port Louis is a vibrant mix of cultures and flavors. Take a leisurely stroll through the bustling Central Market to savor local treats and find unique souvenirs. Wander along the Caudan Waterfront for a relaxed vibe, and make sure to pop into the Blue Penny Museum to catch a glimpse of the island’s colonial past.

Catamaran cruise

Set sail on a catamaran for a perfect day of sun and sea. Drift over crystal-clear waters, take in breathtaking coastal views and discover hidden coves and sandy beaches. It’s a great way to unwind, soak up the tropical atmosphere and just enjoy the ocean.

Explore Mahébourg

Mahébourg, down in the southeast, is a gem with a charming, laid-back vibe. Stroll through its narrow streets, explore the lively local market and take in the stunning lagoon views from the waterfront promenade. The town’s colonial charm is evident in its cozy architecture and relaxed pace. For a deeper dive into the island’s history, visit the National History Museum housed in a beautiful colonial mansion.

Discover the south coast

The south coast of Mauritius offers a more rugged, untouched beauty. Head to Gris Gris to watch the waves crash dramatically against the cliffs and stroll along the rugged coastal paths. Not far away, Rochester Falls is a favorite spot for picnics, with its impressive lava columns providing a picturesque backdrop.

Experience a Sega Dance

Sega is the heartbeat of Mauritius, deeply rooted in Creole culture. Immerse yourself in the local vibe by joining a Sega dance session, whether on the beach or in a nearby village. The rhythm is irresistibly lively and a fantastic way to connect with the island’s vibrant heritage.

Chamarel Mountain

The Seven Colored Earths in Chamarel are a geological wonder that’s definitely worth the drive. Marvel at the vibrant sand dunes and then head to Chamarel Waterfall for stunning views from the other side. If you have a bit more time, the Chamarel Rhum Distillery is nearby for a delicious rum-tasting experience.

Underwater waterfall

Take a helicopter tour to witness the mesmerizing Underwater Waterfall Illusion — a stunning optical illusion and a natural wonder that’s unlike anything you’ve seen before.
