Curator’s statement
As someone who loves adventure, being active and learning about locals, and struggles with laying on the beach for days on end, St. Lucia was the perfect destination for me and my partner to explore! It has the perfect mix of adventure, nature, local culture and beautiful relaxing beaches. The food scene was also some of the best I have ever had. The beautiful views gear towards a perfect romantic trip for couples and honeymooners. This itinerary provides the perfect mix of all!

Day 1: Arrive in St. Lucia
Today you will arrive in St. Lucia! There are two areas of the Island that people stay in, Soufrière and Gros Islet. This itinerary focuses on Soufriere, as that is where the Pitons and many other popular sightseeing activities are located. Once you arrive at the airport, the hotel will set up a private transfer (about 45 min-1 hour) drive to this area.
I chose to stay at Fond Doux Eco Resort. It is a serene and tranquil estate located on a working 19th-century cocoa farm estate, surrounded by lush gardens. The staff is all local and some of the most kind and helpful people I have ever met. They made our stay extremely memorable! You can stay in beautiful rustic cottages that are 1–2 bedrooms. The hotel has three small connecting pools, with sun chairs. This is perfect for when you have free time to swim and read. Take some time to explore the resort, check-in and unpack.
Tonight, treat yourself to a delicious and unique dining experience at Hotel Chocolat. This restaurant offers beautiful views of the Pitons and a fully chocolate-themed menu and cocktail list. A very unique and memorable experience! I recommend going at sunset and trying as much as you can."
Day 2: ATV Tour and Black Sand Beach
Enjoy a delicious breakfast spread at the hotel, featuring local foods.
At 10:00am, enjoy a tour of the Fond Doux Property. Here you can learn about the various plants local to the country and try different herbs, spices, fruits and edible flowers that are grown on the property.
In the afternoon, head out on your first big adventure - an ATV ride! I booked with Island ATV and had a wonderful experience. It was an exciting journey through rivers, forests, to a black sand beach, and some cultural sites. It is an exciting and off-the-beaten-path experience.
Enjoy a delicious dinner at Mango Tree restaurant at Stonefield villa with free live music!
Day 3: Beach Day
Today is your Beach Day! There are a few beach options, but the hotel offers a free shuttle to Sugar Beach, where you can spend the day reading, swimming and relaxing. Another option is Anse Chastanet.
Once you get back, you can shower and get dressed and head to a restaurant in town. Orlandos is a delicious restaurant with a coursed menu featuring local cuisine. It is set in the garden/deck of the chef's home and uses only local ingredients from local farms and vendors and embraces the concept of farm to table. The owner was a renowned chef at other big resorts, but ultimately decided to move back home and showcase the delicious flavors of his hometown.
Day 4: Hiking Gros Piton
I hope you had a good night's sleep because this is about to be a tiring, rewarding and memorable day! You will rise early because today you are hiking Gros Piton. This is one of the most iconic and challenging things to do on the island, and you will need a guide. The trip takes a few hours, but the outstanding views are well worth it.
In the afternoon, stop by the beautiful Diamond Botanical Gardens, waterfalls and mineral baths. It is a 6-acre peaceful private park, which showcases many plants and flowers.
At night, enjoy the delicious local cuisine at your hotel restaurant, Bamboo. Make sure to try the cocktails and dessert!
Day 5: Enjoy all the Hotel has to Offer
Today is a perfect day to enjoy all the hotel has to offer! Enjoy a delicious floating breakfast in the hotel pool and spend time relaxing. Plant a tree on the property to give back to the earth. We planted an Avocado tree! There are some nature trails on the property that offer beautiful views. Take a cooking class.
Enjoy a delicious dinner and drinks at the spectacular Jade Mountain Resort.
Day 6: Sulphur Springs and Treetop Restaurant
Fond Doux Eco Resort is a working cocoa farm. Take a chocolate tour where you will learn about how cocoa goes from bean to bar. See the famous cocoa dance and make a chocolate bar to take home!
You will then be picked up at your hotel to be taken to the famous Sulphur Springs. You will need a local guide for this. It is a drive-in volcano, hot springs and mud bath. Our guide was a blast and loved taking pictures and videos and helping paint us with mud. Afterward, you will head to the beautiful Toraille waterfall, a St. Lucia heritage site.
Finish off your last night in St. Lucia with dinner at the unbelievably gorgeous Treetop Restaurant. It features Indian cuisine since St. Lucia has a large Indian population and a dedicated mixologist. It was a memorable experience and I recommend going around sunset.
Day 7: Time to Head Home
Today is your last day! Enjoy a final breakfast at your hotel. Go on a short hike at the Tet Paul Nature Trail before your flight home.
Need to know
There are many amazing luxury resorts that offer traditional beach and boat experiences, which is what some couples are looking for. You can also split your time with a property in Soufriere and Gros Islet, offering two different experiences. St, Lucia is one of the most special places I have ever been, due to the gorgeous views, rich history and culture and kind people. The perfect mix of adrenaline and relaxation for the adventurous couple!
