Things to do in Scottsdale

Family friendly

1. Phoenix Zoo Lights - Walk the zoo and see the wonderful lights and holiday decorations across the entire property. There are wonderful food and beverage options, as well as accommodations for strollers, wheelchairs, and other accessibility requirements

2. Christmas at the Princess - For gorgeous decor, ice skating and delicious food and beverage options for every age. This classic holiday event is great for every member of the family

3. Desert Botanical Garden - Explore Arizona’s natural environment, and learn about the flora that grows in the valley. Learn about the plants, animals, fruits and vegetables that grow all around Scottsdale, while taking in the wonderful weather we have during the winter months. The Desert Botanical Garden also decorates for the holidays, so go at night if you want to walk a winter wonderland.

Tours and guides

1. Take a sunset Jeep tour through Scottsdale’s desert region and catch one of our world-famous colorful sunsets. Take a private Jeep through the desert on this 2-hour guided driving tour, where you’ll get to experience the incredible views the southwest has to offer.

2. Experience the food & drink of Scottsdale with a guided tour. Get to try some of our world-famous local wines, distilled spirits and our wonderful local food. From pomegranate guacamole to old-timey soda pop, this tour is a great way to explore the gastronomy of the valley.

3. Go on a Pedal Bar Crawl and drink your way through Old Town Scottsdale on one of the iconic pedal bikes through the streets. Stop at numerous locations to taste local spirits, while the tour guide tells you all about historic downtown Scottsdale.

4. Take a trail ride on a horse and discover more of Arizona’s natural environment, while being escorted by a horse and guide. Channel your inner cowboy/cowgirl by riding on horseback through Scottsdale’s wonderful trail systems.

1. Shop local brands at the Merchantile in Old Town for permanent jewelry, last-minute Christmas gifts and to shop small from Arizona’s wonderful local artisans and curators. The Merchantile is located right in the heart of Old Town, making it a great stop while exploring the area.

2. Shop curated and authentic Southwest turquoise jewelry at Silver Star Jewelry. Shop gorgeous hand-curated pieces from local Native artisans, supporting the ethical trade of turquoise and silver and the local crafters of the valley. Leave with a timeless and unique souvenir.

3. Pick up a classic pair of Cowboy boots at the local Boot Junky. Embrace the Southwestern rugged cowboy look with your own pair of boots, and support local businesses by shopping at a place like Boot Junky, with hand-curated pieces and wonderful staff.

Support the local schools and students of the valley through dining here, as FnB’s philanthropic efforts are through the Blue Watermelon Project which aims to create better meals for kids in schools.

2. Cafe Monarch for delicious caviar, handcrafted cocktails and wonderful dishes that will absolutely impress. Enjoy the Chef’s eight-course tasting menu, with local and seasonal dishes carefully crafted by the wonderful staff. Enjoy the gorgeous ambiance of the restaurant and be prepared to be blown away by the fantastic staff.

3. Mastro’s Steakhouse for fantastic cuts of premium steaks, cooked to perfection, with amazing pairings and spirit options. From their extensive menu and wonderful offerings, prepare to be blown away by the quality ingredients and incredible options available to you and your party.

For a fun and fresh vibe:

1. The Canal Club - Step into Havana and experience the amazing and fun atmosphere, complete with a wonderful menu of craft cocktails and Cuban-fusion delights.

2. EVO for the late-night munchies and wonderful atmosphere. This Italian-style spot has an amazing selection of cocktails and wines, and boasts an impressive charcuterie board which I highly recommend.

3. Shinbay for authentic Japanese cuisine with fantastic presentation. Enjoy expertly-crafted sushi and sashimi, as well as a plethora of amazing entrees and cocktails.

For trendy and casual Eats:

1. Farm & Craft with amazing food and drink all day long. I especially love this spot for brunch — get one of their Social Sips to share with your group, and enjoy their fantastic health-forward bowls and breakfast offerings.

2. The Montauk for great drinks, great food and even better live music and service. Enjoy the live band while you sip craft cocktails or coffee concoctions (which I highly recommend), and order their sharable appetizers. This spot is great to celebrate a birthday or bachelorette!

3. Arboleda for great Mediterranean-inspired food and drinks. They have an amazing Happy Hour, environment, and expert staff that can guide you on the best casual culinary experience in Scottsdale.
