Day 1: Arrive in Alicante

Yellow cocktail in a slanting glass.

If there is enough time for lunch, we highly recommend Piripi sit at the bar and order whatever seafood that looks fresh. Everything will be amazing. if they have it, don’t miss the Las Tellina clams cooked simply in garlic, olive oil and white wine, it was divine.

After lunch, take a leisurely stroll and shop along Av. Maisonnave and then maybe along the iconic along Paseo de la Explanade De España.

For aperitivo, try 26 Cocktail Room with amazing craft cocktails with tiki vibes.

Just a few blocks away is La Taberna del Gourmet. Their pan con tomate is outstanding, thanks to their in-house bakery. If it’s in season, their artichokes with romesco sauce is excellent. Their different paellas and fideuàs are also superb. Pro tip: inquire about single portions if they are not too busy; it's a great way to sample more dishes!

Day 2: Explore the City

City aerial view at sunset.

In the morning, venture to Mercado Centrale where you can grab cheese, charcuterie and bread to make your picnic or maybe just some jamon iberico for a snack. Then check out the Bonfire Museum.

Whether you've packed a picnic or not, relish lunch and the afternoon on the beach. Discover numerous restaurants along the boardwalk en route to the beach, offering outdoor dining to soak in the ambiance and indulge in some people-watching.

We highly recommend the 30-minute hike to Castillo de Santa Barbara before sunset. The panoramic views of the city at dusk from the top are truly spectacular. On your descent, pick a route that would lead you through Barrio Santa Cruz, where you will find white-washed buildings adorned with brightly colored doors and window, reminiscent of Chefchaouen in Morocco.

For dinner, Bar Manero has a casual, friendly vibe and has excellent tapa type dishes. Perfect for a lighter meal if you so choose.

Day 3: Optional side trip to Denia

Water body with docked boats and buildings in background.

Securing a reservation at Quique Dacosta, a Michelin three-star restaurant, is highly recommended. Just know that it’s a leisurely dining experience, so plan accordingly. Denia has four golf courses with breathtaking views for enthusiasts. Alternatively, explore downtown along Calle Loreto and the charming fishing port area

Need to know

If you happen to be in Alicante on a Thursday, we would highly recommend the live music and Flemenco dancing at the courtyard of Hospes Amerigo. They also have a live jazz brunch every Sunday too!
