Fall In Love With Richmond, VA

• Virginia Museum of Fine Arts: Open every day and general admission is free! Incredible venue with a lunch option and activities for all ages.

• Maymont: Over 100 acres of gardens, waterfalls, walking paths, a perfect picnic spot or a field to have a catch. History galore, with a koi pond you can walk through, a petting zoo and a historic estate you can visit. Free to enter, donations accepted.

• Virginia Capital Trail: Over 50 miles of paved trails, with many different destinations, water and restrooms along the way. One trail in particular, is about 13 miles long and takes you to Upper Shirley Vineyards where you can eat on the water. Many options are available for bike rentals, electric as well. If you decide you only want to ride one way, there are services that will take you and your bikes back to RVA.

• Richmond Folk Festival: This yearly FREE festival/ concert which takes place outside, on the James River, brings musicians from all over the world together with some of the best food trucks around. It is incredible to see all of these people gathered with live music all weekend long!

• Hollywood Cemetery: Over 130 acres of beautiful grounds, hills and views, this cemetery is the final home of our Presidents, James Monroe and John Tyler along with the only Confederate president, Jefferson Davis. It was built in 1847 and is worth a visit.

• Belle Isle: Beautiful trails and large rocks to sit on, have lunch, wet your feet, watch the kayakers or just take in the sun.

• Flying Squirrels Baseball: A new stadium is coming in 2026, but this minor league team brings on the fun, great hotdogs and regular fireworks.

• Kings Dominion: Something for everyone, with water rides, rollercoasters and a kids area too, only 30 min from RVA - some of my favorite rollercoasters.

• Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens: Gardens, treehouses, concerts, butterflies - one of the prettiest spots I have been too. We pack lunch and have picnics here but there is a spot for lunch that is delicious too. Many days a year, free admission is offered.

• Ashland, VA: A cute little village to walk through with dining, shipping and the cutest toy store. Amtrak will run through the village and Secretariat Statue is also now on display.

• River City Bowl: Music, bowling, games and food! A fun spot walkable in the Scotts Addition area.

• Stella’s: Fresh Greek Cuisine in a beautiful room, locally owned and consistently delicious! Don’t miss the lamb meatballs!

• L’Opossum: A true dining experience, reservations needed ahead of time, but so worth it. Eclectic surroundings and a constantly changing French-inspired menu. The escargot are the best I have ever had.

• Caboose Market & Cafe: Such a cute spot in Ashland, locally sourced, menu always changing, with local wines and beers and a little gourmet shop to pick up bread, cheese and wine. I love the Pimento Cheese - plus the date night events they have are GREAT!

• Capriccios Pizza: Having moved from NY, the search for the best pizza was on and we found it! It is like walking into my Italian family's kitchen and having dinner. Their sicilian pizza is perfect, a slice to go exists and the pizza folds to eat while the cheese is melted to perfection.

• The Roosevelt, located in Church Hill and consistently awarded Best Of, great craft cocktails and a menu with a southern flair, it is consistently delicious.

• ZZQ: Texas BBQ, melt-in-your-mouth brisket and mac and cheese with jalapeno - mouthwatering and casual!

• Lauralees: A great brunch spot on the weekends and outdoor garden to enjoy.

• Midlothian Chef’s Kitchen: Owned by award-winning Chef David Dunlap and his wife, Brittany. Local seasonal ingredients with an option for a chef’s table experience.

• Lillypad: A spot on the water that boats can pull up to. Live music and laid back food.

• Richmond Food Tours: Multiple choices for walking tours in different neighborhoods sampling some of the finest restaurants in town.
