Things to do in Palm Beach, Florida
Palm Beach is full of fun things to do – no matter your travel style. My husband and I were able to curate the perfect itinerary to fit in some shopping for me, some baseball for him and some eating and drinking for the both of us!
I always recommend staying in Palm Beach – it's roughly a 20-minute drive from The Ballpark of the Palm Beaches. But if you'd rather stay closer to the parks, The Ben in West Palm Beach is also a great option. A rental car is very helpful to get around, but in general Palm Beach is very walkable or able to be traversed by bike.
Check out our list of can't miss activities:
Shopping on Worth Avenue
This is at the top of most guides to Palm Beach for a reason. It is the iconic and quintessential Palm Beach. My favorite "souvenir" is getting a pair of custom slippers made at Stubbs & Wootton, local to the area (make sure to ask for Nicolo Ragazzi!)
Dig for treasure at The Church Mouse
If you're looking for some more approachable shopping, The Church Mouse is a can't-miss. It's a local resale shop staffed by volunteers, with all proceeds going to charity. Locals donate all kinds of fun items – maybe you'll get lucky. You know what they say – one man's trash is another man's treasure!
Pick up some new tabletop items at Serena & Lily or Julia Amory
Palm Beach is full of wonderful boutiques; these are just two of my favorites. This is the only storefront for Julia Amory, so highly recommend stopping by. Local boutiques also tend to host fun events for those in town, so it's worth stumbling by to see what cocktail is being served that day.
Take a stitching break at Lycette Needlepoint
For all of those (aspiring) needlepointers out there, Lycette is the mothership of fun canvases, beautiful finishing and threads of any color. If you're lucky, they'll be hosting one of their designers for a cocktail party in the garden. (When we were there, Rudy the Prep was in town! IYKYK.)
Shop Royal Poinciana Plaza
Another great shopping area with restaurants and coffee shops woven in between. Stop by Stoney Clover Lane to make a fun new bag or check out the pop-up shops at the Retail Incubation (when we were there it was Hill House and La Vie Style House).
Bike the Palm Beach Lake Trail
If walking between shops isn't your version of exercise, hop on a bike and check out the Palm Beach Lake Trail. This is a great scenic way to explore and get the blood flowing.
Take a glimpse into the past at The Flagler Museum
Also known as The Whitehall, this museum gives you an in-depth look at Palm Beach's history and a gorgeous Gilded Age mansion.
Catch a polo match at the National Polo Club
While Wellington is a bit of a drive from Palm Beach (roughly 30 minutes), catching a polo match is an iconic way to spend an afternoon in January – April.
Root for your home team at The Ballpark of the Palm Beaches
Last but not least, take your group out to the ballgame and see the Astros or the Nationals play some pre-season games at the nearby ballpark. When purchasing your tickets, make sure to get a parking pass to be able to park on-site. Get there early to snag some autographs and photos with your favorite players. Don't forget your baseballs and a ballpoint pen!
Places to eat & drink in Palm Beach, Florida
Breakfast/Brunch:
Surfside Diner
A hole-in-the-wall diner in the heart of town, be prepared for a wait and an amazing "greasy spoon" breakfast.
Sant Ambroeus
An outpost of the NYC classic, Sant Ambroeus is a "see and be seen" brunch spot in Royal Poinciana Plaza. Reservations recommended.
Lunch/Dinner:
Swifty's at The Colony
My favorite place to grab lunch in Palm Beach! Dine poolside, sip cocktails and enjoy the sunshine.
Buccan
An upbeat atmosphere coupled with excellent service and even better Italian food. Don't sleep on the sweet corn pasta. Reservations highly recommended.
Pizza Al Fresco
A quaint courtyard with casual vibes, brick-oven pizza and an approachable wine list. Expect a wait, but try to call ahead to put your name on the list. Located right on Worth Avenue, you can always window shop to pass the time. This is a can't-miss!
Florie's at The Four Seasons
A fine-dining Mediterranean option at The Four Seasons with a relaxing atmosphere, elegant dishes and live-fire cooking.
Seaway at The Four Seasons
The best oceanfront dining option in Palm Beach. A bit of a drive from downtown, but worth it for those ocean views.
BiCE
An outpost of the buzzy Milanese hotspot, BiCE is located right on Worth Avenue and offers excellent Italian food.
Drinks:
HMF at The Breakers
A great way to check out The Breakers if you are not staying there, the HMF bar also offers excellent people watching. We may or may not have seen Lance McCullers when we stopped by for cocktails – need I say more?
Lola 41 at The White Elephant Hotel
A great bar that offers outside seating near the hotel's pool, it is walking distance from Royal Poinciana Plaza for post-shopping cool down or a nightcap after a luxurious meal.
Cucina
For those who are looking for a late-night party, Cucina is THE place to be. This is not for the faint of heart, but always guarantees a good time.
The Honor Bar
A low-key bar attached to the restaurant of Dallas fame, The Honor Bar is known for cold martinis and excellent bar snacks.
Café Boulud at The Brazilian Court Hotel
Looking for a quick stop between Worth Avenue and Royal Poinciana Plaza? The Brazilian Court is a great place for a cocktail and sushi break.
Need to know
The proximity of Palm Beach to the spring training ballpark makes it easy to weave in any of the above while still catching a game or two (or three!) We stayed in Palm Beach and dedicated one day to exploring the area and one day to catching a baseball game (Go 'Stros!) It was very manageable to grab a good brunch and head out to the ballpark with plenty of time. And we were back in time for a nightcap at Lola 41! Please contact me for an itinerary full of suggestions of how to fit it all in!
