Curator’s statement

Curaçao is a wonderful place to visit. It's easy to get to with non-stop flights from the United States, and an airport that is not far from the beaches. It has gorgeous clear blue waters where you can snorkel right from the beach of your hotel. We enjoyed chatting with the locals and loved being able to walk to so many delicious restaurants. Though, of course, we enjoyed drinking colorful concoctions featuring the iconic blue Curaçao liquor.

Things to do in Curaçao

Snorkel right at your hotel beach! We saw so many colorful fish just steps from our hotel room. Take the time to wander around the charming town of Willemstad, followed by a leisurely stroll over the Old Swinging Lady Bridge, especially at night when it's all lit up. The lively streets are a great place to grab a bite to eat or have a nightcap. Don't be afraid to rent a car here.

There are many beaches you should explore, too. Be sure to bring water shoes, your beach towel, snorkel and plenty of sunscreen! I recommend taking a boat tour to Klien, Curaçao. It's a small island with a large beach. The water is great for snorkeling, and you're likely to see dolphins. Also, do not miss Playa Grandi. If you go in the afternoon, there is a good chance you can swim with turtles right off the beach! Make a stop at Grote Knip Beach; the water is crystal clear, and you may get a chance to see the locals jumping off of the cliff and into the water.

We found so many great restaurants in Curaçao! Here are some of our favorites:

Breakfast:

Lunch:

  • Ceviche 91

  • Poké Food Station: A great casual lunch spot.

  • We enjoyed having lunch at our hotel beach bar - Schooner Bar. You must try the Netherlands specialty of Bitterballen. It's a delightful surprise!

Dinner:

  • Mi Familia: An Italian Gem with outside seating. You must try the Tiramisu Espresso Martini for Dessert!

  • Soi95: Tapas and small plates. Get a reservation on the rooftop. You will not be disappointed.

  • Rozendaels: The fish dish here was superb!
