Things to do in Santa Barbara

Beaches

  • Hammonds: This beach is the most private and offers a very pretty walk! It will take about a five-minute drive to reach food options.

  • Butterfly: The second most private beach in the Santa Barbara area. It's also about a five-minute drive to food options.

  • East Beach: One of the larger beaches with ample space. Volleyball courts are available along the beach, and this location is nearest to downtown. It's about a five-minute walk to the nearest food and a 10-minute walk to downtown.

  • Go Downtown: Explore the great shopping along State Street and enjoy many options for food and drinks!

  • Catamaran Ride: Experience the harbor by grabbing a catamaran ride. There are various options offering drinks, history tours or full-day rentals for a sea adventure.

  • Visit the Zoo: The Santa Barbara Zoo is a fantastic idea for friends and family trips.

  • Stearns Wharf: Take a stroll around Stearns Wharf to explore fun shops and restaurants. The Sea Center, located on the wharf, offers insights into marine life.

  • Santa Barbara Harbor: Enjoy some fun restaurants and attractions at the Santa Barbara Harbor. Sometimes, live music performances can be enjoyed on the lawn. It's about a 15-minute walk from the Wharf, and most sea tours/catamarans depart from here.

  • Old Mission Santa Barbara: Visit this beautiful landmark, considered one of the greatest renowned landmarks in Santa Barbara. Explore the stunning grounds and learn about its fascinating history. The nearby Rose Garden spot is well-known for a great picnic spot, too!

  • Sandbar: This place has it all. Enjoy food and drinks during the day, before it transforms into a lively bar with dancing in the evening. A great spot for a fun night out!

  • Whiskey Richards: Calling all karaoke fans! This spot is for you, especially on Saturdays. Conveniently located downtown and within walking distance to everything.

  • The Good Lion: For a fancier option when it comes to cocktails, head to The Good Lion. Located in the heart of downtown, it offers a sophisticated ambiance and top-notch drinks.

Dinner Restaurants

  • Augie's of Santa Barbara: Located downtown, this spot serves up amazing Mexican cuisine and also boasts a tequila bar. A great choice for a flavorful meal.

  • The Lark: Ideal for those seeking a family-style meal, albeit on the pricier side. Known for its delicious offerings, it's a popular choice for a memorable dining experience.

  • Milk & Honey: Situated just on the outskirts of downtown, this intimate and trendy restaurant offers great cocktails and tapas, perfect for a cozy evening out.

Brunch

  • Jeannine's: A well-known and delicious spot for brunch, though it does tend to get busy, so be sure to plan ahead!

  • Reunion: Nestled perfectly on the beach, Reunion offers a fantastic brunch experience with a great outdoor seating area to enjoy the coastal views.

Coffee

  • Dart Coffee: This cute spot offers delicious coffee, matcha and more! With two seating locations – one inside the coffee shop and another in a garden across the street – it's a popular choice known for its quality beverages. Expect a line, but it moves quickly.
