Where Parisians Shop and Eat

• Start your exploration at the majestic Place de la Republique Square, conveniently located on several metro lines and just north of Le Marais. From there, head West on rue du Chateau d’Eau and explore the following places on side streets. Please note, most of them are closed on Sunday and/or Monday.

• La Trésorerie (11 rue du chateau d’eau) sells homewares and household items in a former tax building. Check their sister store Suite La Trésorerie (8 rue du chateau d’eau) across the street for furniture. You will want to buy a place in Paris just to be able to shop at la Trésorerie to furnished it.

• Habile (16 rue de Lancry) is a restaurant, coffee-shop and clothing store (upstairs).

• Thanks God I’m a VIP (12 rue de Lancry) is the best vintage store in Paris. Just go in to check the color-coded racks of well-curated clothes and accessories. Three stores on the same street: women, men's & kids.

• Sam Records (22 rue Taylor) is a record store and label selling their own reissued jazz pressings. The only problem with Sam records is that they are only open on Friday & Saturday!!

• The Archivist (13 rue Taylor), another very well-curated vintage store with designer brands.

• Nice street art & murals at the end of Cité Riverin.

• Marché Saint Martin (31–33 rue du chateau d’eau), a covered market for fresh produce and food.

Delicious places along rue du chateau d’eau and on side streets, heading West from Republique:

• Les Resistants (16 rue de chateau d’eau) is an excellent restaurant offering french cuisine with seasonal and organic ingredients. The upstairs room is very cozy.

• Mamiche (30 rue du chateau d’eau) is considered one of the best bakeries in Paris, for good reasons. That explains the long line outside every day. But it goes fast. Local tip: they have another location with no line two blocks away (19 rue bouchardon) that sells mostly sandwiches and lunch items.

• Sold-out Burger (2 rue Lucien Sampaix), excellent burgers (veggie options) and chicken sandwiches & fries. They don’t want any food waste, so they will just close when they sell out of freshly made patties (therefore the name).

• Holybelly (5 rue Lucien Sampaix) is a very popular breakfast place with always long lines. Yes it’s good, but why waste time in Paris for food you can get back home while the best French bakery is just around the corner?

• Immersion (8 rue Lucien Sampaix) is another yummy popular brunch place with also long lines (insider tip: book online).

• Fifi la Praline (11 rue Taylor) sells chocolates and all kinds of sugar-coated nuts called “pralines” in French.

• Blondi (27 rue du chateau d’eau), brand new coffeeshop (open in early 2024) with great coffees and pastries. Tables outside for a nice little break.

• Chiche (29bis rue du chateau d’eau) small Israeli deli and coffee shop with excellent sandwiches.

• Le Chardon (27 rue Bouchardon), a delicious restaurant and wine bar with modern french classic dishes. Nice outdoor seating on the lovely square.

• CopperBay (5 rue Bouchardon), trendy cocktail and craft beers bar. Also serving small bites.
