Things to do in Western United States
Dunton Hot Springs
The San Juan Mountains in Southwestern Colorado hosts Dunton Hot Springs - a luxurious all-inclusive resort. This former ghost town has a saloon and dance hall featuring frequent music, a fine-dining restaurant with local cuisine and of course, a large hot springs pool. You will stay in one of twelve rustic cabins, each featuring a private pool and other amenities such as the opportunity to take a majestic horseback ride through the waterfall and meadow-strewn property.
Azure Palm Hot Springs and Day Spa Oasis
As the name implies, this resort’s pool successfully transports you to a desert oasis overlooking the Coachella Valley, complete with palm trees, striped chairs and the stunning backdrop of Mt San Jacinto. Each hotel room features a private soaking pool and access to their Himalayan salt room. Check out this guide of other things to do in the area - including a second famous hot spring pool, Agua Caliente.
Two Bunch Palms
Touting themselves as “sleek yet relaxed”, Two Bunch Palms is the perfect fit for the laid-back, wellness-seeking couple looking to get away in Palm Springs, California. Their restaurant features seasonal, vegetable-forward dishes, and people rave about the cocktails and fresh juices. The mineral pool is nestled in a den of palm trees and the spa offers services like hot stones to enhance your stay.
Trinity Hot Springs
While not a traditional, luxury resort, Trinity Hot Springs hosts a wide variety of cute cabins to rent overlooking a pleasant pool. The spring has been recognized as a source of exceptionally pure water or “Naturliches Heilwasser”, the only designated site in the United States. They even allow you to purchase the water to take home this rejuvenating aspect of your trip. Trinity Hot Springs also has a spa that offers massages and poolside scalp treatments.
Ojo Caliente
Beloved by locals as an escape from everyday life, Ojo Caliente is a historic hot springs resort located in a beautiful setting outside Taos, New Mexico. Guests have the option of staying in an adobe hotel, multiple casita houses on property or vintage, restored travel trailers. This resort has a variety of different pools featuring healing minerals to promote relaxation and wellness, as well as a mud bath and sauna. Spa services are available, as is morning yoga for overnight guests.
Castle Hot Springs
A true luxury, all-inclusive experience awaits at Castle Hot Springs in Arizona, with grounds and pools reserved for overnight guests. The three natural pools are rocky and stunning, surrounded by the natural landscape of Sonoran cactuses and the Bradshaw Mountains. The mineral-rich waters have been sought out by locals for centuries, and now the oasis also features an on-site restaurant and farm. Guests can enjoy other activities on the Sonoran Desert property like pickleball, axe-throwing and farm tours.
Carson Hot Springs Golf Resort
Nestled in the heart of the moody, beautiful Columbia River Gorge, Carson Hot Springs features rustic lodge accommodations with a historic bathhouse. Along with the restoring mineral springs water, many guests come to take advantage of the championship-level golf course and the nearby hiking, biking, horseback riding and fishing that wind their way through the Gorge.
Lithia Springs Resort
This charming home feels like a bed-and-breakfast than a natural pool, but that won’t stop guests from taking advantage of the wellness benefits of the sulfur mineral springs it sits on top of. Each room in the resort comes with a private soaking tub and mineral shower, as well as the opportunity to book spa appointments like a couples massage. This is the perfect stop on a trip to enjoy the wine and theater culture of Southern Oregon.
The Western part of the United States is a rugged land of beauty and wonder and hot springs provide the perfect escape for couples or friends seeking an unforgettable experience. Other things you can do around many of these resorts include skiing, hiking, climbing and enjoying local culture.
