Whether you're looking for a high-end boutique hotel nestled in the jungle, or a pristine villa with an ocean view - this is place for you. This area is popular for higher-end family getaways and honeymooners seeking the best of the best for a special romantic trip to Mexico. I'm lucky to live just 30 minutes south of Punta Mita so I'm able to visit its gorgeous beaches often. Things to do in Punta Mita

1. Take a tour to the Marietas Islands: Islas Marietas - a stunning archipelago off the coast of Nayarit, Mexico, is renowned for its hidden beach, Playa del Amor, nestled within a crater-like opening. These uninhabited islands are a protected marine reserve, offering visitors the chance to snorkel in crystal-clear waters and marvel at diverse marine life in a pristine natural setting. Visits are only allowed with certain tour operators in order to preserve this natural area. I am happy to help you arrange a tour here.

2. Whale Watching: From December to March, humpback whales make their yearly migration to this area to mate and give birth to their babies. Take a tour on a sailboat or luxury yacht to witness these beautiful animals up close.

3. Visit the towns of Sayulita or San Pancho - Stroll around the quaint streets of these magical villages. Enjoy some boutique shopping for locally made clothing, silver jewelry and art. These towns are just quick drive from Punta Mita.

4. Golf - Some of world’s most renowned private golf courses can be found in Punta Mita. Breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean and pristine course conditions will offer a truly amazing experience to golfers. At Punta Mita Pacifico, players can enjoy a 36-hole Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course while taking in the scenery of the Sierra Madre Mountains, Bahía de Banderas and the Pacific Ocean. If you time it right, you will get the chance to play “Tail of the Whale” – the world’s only natural island green that can only be played at low tide.

5. Lo de Perla Jungle Garden - Visit this beautifully curated and protected jungle preserve just outside San Pancho. It's an Orchidarium with exquisite orchids and other exotic flowers. Enjoy a guided tour and learn about local flora and fauna.

6. Surf - One of the most popular surfing beaches in the region is in Punta Mita, called La Lancha. La Lancha boasts a secluded, pristine beach accessible via a jungle trail, offering consistent waves year-round suitable for surfers of all levels. With its uncrowded shores and serene atmosphere, it provides a unique and tranquil beach experience, ideal for both beginners and seasoned surfers alike.

7. Day trip to Puerto Vallarta - For a more lively scene, take the easy 50 minute drive to Puerto Vallarta. Here you can stroll the famous malecón, browse the local shops, and enjoy a nice meal, or party through the night at the many bars and dance clubs of the city.

8. Hike Monkey Mountain - For active travelers, try a hike up Cerro del Mono. You can find the trailhead in the village of Higuera Blanca, just north of Punta Mita. It's best to go with a group. Expect a hike of about 90 minutes uphill before reaching the lookout where you'll see spectacular views of the mountains and Pacific Ocean.
