Curator’s statement

Banff was one of the places our family visited when we started traveling 5 years ago. It definitely sparked my love for this world and traveling to see as much of it as I can. The lakes and mountains are so pretty. When you return, everyone will think your pictures are photoshopped. I always tell people if I had to choose one place to visit for the rest of my life, it would be Banff.

Things to do in Banff

Forested areas and rocky mountains surround a vibrant turquoise lake under a cloudy sky.
  • Banff Gondola - Ride the Gondola to the top of the mountains for incredible views. There's also a great place to eat or have a cocktail.

  • Johnston Canyon Hike - One of Banff's most famous hikes through a canyon ending at a magical waterfall.

  • Lake Louise - The crown jewel of Banff. You'll know why once you get there.

  • Lake Moraine - Lesser known spot, but in my opinion even more beautiful (and less crowded) than Lake Louise.

  • Banff Upper Hot Springs - Soak in the hot springs while enjoying the views from Sulphur Mountain.

  • The Glacier Skywalk - Glass-floored walkway takes you out over the glacial valley and rushing waterfalls.

  • Lake Agnes Teahouse & Big Beehive - 4.5-mile hike through an old-growth forest to Lake Agnes, where you can enjoy a pastry and cup of tea at the Lake Agnes Tea House. Continue on up the switchbacks to the Big Beehive for views of the Bow Valley and Lake Louise.

  • Rock Climbing - Guided climbs for all levels.

  • Wildlife Tour - If you really want to see wildlife, find a tour guide that knows the area.

Day Trips:

  • If you have extra time, head to Jasper and explore Banff's sister park. If you are flying out of Calgary, try to time your travels with the Calgary Rodeo. A big deal!
