Baltic region has countries that have shorelines along the Baltic Sea
Curator’s statement

The Baltic's are a under rated but magical destination for traveler's looking for an adventure a little bit more "off the beaten path". Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania provide city life, nature and lets not forget saunas to rest your feet after a long day of exploring. All three countries also provide an incredible food and craft beer scene for the "foodie" travelers in your life.

Things to do in the Baltics

Old Town of Talinn is the oldest part of Tallinn, Estonia.
  • Take the Ferry from Helsinki to Tallinn - even if you are just wanting to dip your toes into Estonia - it is easy to take a quick ferry ride from Helsinki to Tallinn (or vis a versa) - plus you get to see the Baltic Sea up close and personal!

  • Visit Old Town Tallinn - Old town Tallinn can provide a days worth of exploring, between its cobble stone streets, gothic architecture and great food options you can easily take yourself on a self-guided tour or book a tour with a local guide.

  • Visit Kuressaare -A relatively short but picturesque drive from Tallin brings you to Kuressaare, a spa town on the very edge of Estonia. Relax and enjoy a traditional baltic spa experience.

  • Visit "The Kissing Students" sculpture and fountain in Tartu - A well-known landmark for couples to get good luck.

  • Visit the Central Market in Riga - Constructed reusing old German Zeppelin hangers this is the largest market and bazaar in Europe.

  • Old town Riga - A combination of Nordic, Gothic and Renaissance architecture makes wandering the streets of this old town an enjoyable experience for everyone.

  • Trakai Island Castle - An easy stop on the way to Kaunas this castle's initial construction was completed in 1409. It also possible to rent boats to paddle around the beautiful lake that surrounds the grounds.

  • Hill of Three Crosses - A short (but steep) hike from Old Town Vilnius - this monument which is a symbol of mourning and hope gives unparalleled views of the entire city.

Drink

  • Põhjala Brewery & Tap Room - Tallinn Estonia: Central to Tallinn's growing craft beer scene Põhjala is a great place to grab a Baltic Porter or IPA if that's more your speed. Pro Tip: They also serve authentic southern BBQ.

  • This Place Doesn't Need A Name, Riga Latvia - Come here with your friends for a Negroni or other delicious cocktails. They do also make "Italian" small bites if you're feeling peckish.

  • Sky Bar, Vilnius Lithuania: This bar is located on the 22nd floor of the Radisson Hotel and gives amazing views of the entire city while enjoying a cocktail or beer.

  • StrangeLove Vilnius Lithuania: A great place for an exceptional cup of coffee of house roasted beans. Pro Tip: They've got great breakfast as well.

Eat

  • Pööbel, Tallinn Estonia: A cozy pub serving reasonably priced Estonian pub fare. Also an easy walk from Old Town.

  • Restaurant F-Hoone: F-Hoone has a little bit of everything, from Ramen to Dumplings, there is going to be something delicious for everyone.

  • Milda, Riga Latvia: Upscale Baltic fare - Get the Porcini Soup in a bread bowl (trust me!)

  • Chacapuri Sodu, Vilnius Lithuania: Incredible Georgian restaurant with a central location. Explore the different types of Chacapuri and complement it with a bottle of Georgian wine.
