Curator’s statement

My husband and I visited Greece for our honeymoon. After a few days spent touring around Athens, the relaxing and indulgent pace of the Greek isles was just what we needed. We chose Paros for its incredible mix of relaxation, outdoor activities and strong food scene. There's no chance of being bored here - unless you want to be!

Things to do in Paros

  • Enjoy a boat ride around the island: There are a few different options for you as far as boating goes, you just have to think about your style! You can charter a private boat with or without a skipper, join a group party cruise, or sign up for a more active excursion with snorkeling and cave hopping!

  • Sunset sail: To complete your boating experience in Paros, enjoy a sunset cruise for a few hours. Again, options abound but all come with a sunset you'll never forget.

  • Marble workshop at Atelier Jb: Paros is well known for its marble, so what better souvenir to take home than your very own marble masterpiece? You'll learn about this unique marble in a three hour activity, and create something that will stand the test of time.

  • Get a bespoke pair of sandals made at Atelier1935: This is Paros' oldest sandal shop. You have the choice of buying any of thier sandals off the shelves or treating yourself to a true luxury experience and have a pair custom made just for you. You'll have your feet measured, and help design your sandals, choosing colors, style, and extra details such as tassels.
I had a beautiful taupe pair made with black tassels, and think of my time there every time I put them on!

  • Enjoy Paros' beaches: There is a beach in Paros for everyone; many compare Pounda beach to Mykonos, with its day clubs and music pumping, and Kalogeros beach is known for it's natural mud that many use as a DIY spa treatment. Paros Park hosts three beaches, including Monastiri Beach, popular with families. Pro Tip: ask someone at your hotel, at a restaurant or while out and about- there's so many beaches, and after all, the locals always know best.

  • Kite and Wind surf at Pounda Bay and Golden beaches: Paros Kite Center at Pounda Bay beach offers kitesurfing lessons for all skill sets, while Paros Surf Club and Force 7 are both located at Golden beach. Paros Surf club offers wind surfing, wing foil and SUP rentals, and also can arrange other activities such as guided hikes, boat and ATV rentals and scuba and snorkeling. Force 7 also has a variety of windsurfing lessons, along with SUP and Kayak rentals.

  • Petra Farm: Focusing on sustainable agriculture and native flora and crops, Petra Farm is a great place to take a tour of an active farm and enjoy a great spread of local wine and products produced on site. Located above Kolymbithres, it's a great option when near Naousa.

  • Horseback Riding at Thanasis Farm: Thanasis Farm puts rider and horse safety first. Take a riding lesson, or enjoy one of their beautiful trail rides.

  • Relax at Elios Spa at Cosme Hotel: After quality time at the beach or exploring, treat yourself to a spa day. With a full menu of facial and body treatments there's something for everyone- including specialty pre-natal and jet lag treatments. You won't regret treating yourself!

Day Trip:

  • Enjoy a quick trip to Anti-Paros ( literally a 10-30 min ferry ride depending on where you depart from in Paros), and visit it's charming art museum, its idyllic beaches or adventure in it's caves!

  • It's easy and fun to get around Paros on an ATV. Places to rent are plentiful around the island- just double check if you need an international driver's license.

Places to eat & drink in Paros

Dinner:

  • Sigi Ikthios- This atmospheric restaurant sits right on the waterfront in Naousa. Dining al fresco while enjoying some of the island's freshest seafood was one of the highlights of our culinary adventures in Greece, while washing it all down with a bottle of ouzo was the cherry on top!

  • Levantis- Centrally located in Parikia and operating for over 50 years, you'll dine under a huge grape vine. The romantic setting compliments the modern take on traditional fare- we enjoyed a caponata cake over polenta and goat cheese along with the fresh fish of the day. The pace is relaxed and enjoyable.

  • Yemeni- This is a well loved restaurant by locals and visitors alike. Open since the early 2000's, it's known for using hyper-fresh ingredients. Treat yourself to dishes like Beetroot and Truffle Risotto, traditional dolmades cooked in the wood fired oven , or lamb stuffed vine leaves filled with cheese from Naxos. This a great place to really enjoy Greek cuisine when in Naousa!

Breakfast/Lunch:

  • Amena di Paros- So good we came here twice! It's an amazing place to enjoy a laid back brunch right on the water. It's got a bohemian vibe but the food and service is top notch. A strong cup of coffee, an inventive cocktail and a delicious meal of Greek scrambled eggs, open toasts and flatbreads made for a truly relaxing way to pass the mornings!

  • Mana Mana- This restaurant, in the middle of a Parikian square under a canopy of trees, has a strong vegetarian menu. When you're in the mood for a fast casual spot with great people (and cat) watching, this is where you'll want to come.

Cocktails:

  • Pirate Bar- We really enjoyed this unique bar in Parikia. Once you step inside you almost feel as though you're tucked away in a little cavern. A fun soundtrack and friendly bartenders add to the fun. You can have a cozy night here or use it as a bookend to your night!

  • Come Back Bar- This is a full service restaurant that can serve pancakes for breakfast or a cocktail in the evening, all with your toes literally in the sand. It also serves as a music venue at night. It's a not to be missed place in Naousa.

  • Bebop X Jooma- The best place in Parikia to catch the epic Greek sunsets, in my opinion!

We shared a few sushi rolls, which were delicious, and some sizable cocktails. The service was attentive but not overbearing and was a great way to kickoff a night out.

Pro Tip: There is a hill that sits behind the restaurant where many people go to enjoy the sunset as well. It's a beautiful place to enjoy an evening picnic.

Need to know

Paros is a versatile vacation spot in so many ways- from honey and baby moon vibes to a family trip or birthday bash, there really is something for everyone- all with a luxurious twist.
