Things to do in Portugal

Beaches: Spend your days at Comporta’s beaches. Some of my favorites are Praia da Comporta, Praia do Carvalhal, Praia do Pego and Praia dos Brejos.
Shopping: Whether it’s for clothing or home design, Comporta is an incredible place to perfect the boho-chic aesthetic. You can easily spend several days exploring the boutiques. Some of my favorites are Fashion Clinic, Côté Sud, Rice, Lavanda, The Life Juice and Stork Club.
Ride horses on the beach: Portugal is famous for Lusitano horses. Few experiences are more memorable or transformative than galloping along the Atlantic coastline.
Wine tasting: Visit the local wineries for a tasting or combined dinner experience.
Picnic: Experience a traditional gourmet picnic at a secluded beach, in the midst of the pine forest, beside the rice paddies.
Cooking lesson: Learn about the traditional gastronomy of the Alentejo region with a Farm to Table cooking class.
Day boat: Spend the day spotting bottlenose dolphins in the Sado Estuary or experience the beauty of Arrábida Natural Park from the water.
4x4 buggy tour: A private off-road tour is the best way to explore Comporta’s true nature. I highly recommend the sunset tour and picnic.
Surf lessons: Book a private surf session and learn how to surf the waves at Carvalhal Beach. Local surf schools host classes for all ages and abilities.
Day trips:
Evora
Arrabida Natural Park
Monsaraz

Do I need a car in Comporta? Yes, Comporta is quite remote. It is also a series of multiple villages. You will want to have your own car so you can explore without restriction.
When is the best time to visit Comporta? While Comporta is open the entire year, you will want to find the best time for you:
Winter: There are always perfect sunny days in Comporta throughout the winter. It’s a great time to cozy up by a fire and experience the purity and silence of the region.
