Curator’s statement
This past summer, I had the opportunity to help plan and celebrate my cousin’s bachelorette in my own city. We had the most amazing weekend exploring, shopping, eating and partying. The bride and most of her bridal party arrived from Austin, Texas, and throughout the weekend we were able to strike a fun balance of experiencing New York City like tourists and locals. Our jam-packed weekend flew by and only added to our excitement to see each other again at her wedding in November. Read below to find out what we did to inspire your own NYC bachelorette weekend!

Day 1: Dinner, drinks and disco
Once everyone arrived at the hotel, we met on the bride’s hotel balcony which was decorated by her sisters with big balloons spelling “Bbride,” silver streamers and a table complete with bachelorette paraphernalia and gift bags with snacks, custom shirts, hats and printed itineraries for all of the guests. We kicked off the weekend by popping a bottle of champagne and toasting to our bride.
After that, dressed in red, we headed to Little Ways in SoHo for a fun dinner. Little Ways has a fun vibe, great food and excellent, attentive staff who were excited to welcome us and make sure we had an awesome night. Little Ways is located in a super cute townhouse with the restaurant on the first floor and a second floor bar complete with tasty drinks, space for dancing and a disco ball!
Day 2: Sweat, shop and shimmy
We decided to keep the dancing from the night before going the next morning with a high energy Forward Space dance class. We arrived at the studio bright and early ready to sweat it out and start our day. The studio staff greeted us warmly and ushered us into the lobby where a sign that read “She said YES, we said DANCE,” was displayed. After an exhilarating hour of choreography, we picked up bagels and walked around SoHo and the West Village to check out the charming neighborhoods and stop into some unique boutiques for a little shopping.
For dinner, we went to La Esquina Brasserie for delicious margaritas and Mexican food. Located as a speakeasy below the taco joint on Kenmare Street, La Esquina is a fun spot for any celebratory occasion and great for big groups. Once we finished dessert, it was time for more dancing! We made our way back to the Lower East Side and to 205 Club for a sparkly night out.
Day 3: Getting in the NYC staples
No NYC weekend is complete without a slice of fresh, hot New York pizza! But, why restrict yourself to one slice, when you can try four different iconic slices? For our final day, we booked a trolley to take us to and through Greenpoint and Williamsburg, Brooklyn to taste test Paulie Gee’s Slice Shop, Joe’s Pizza, Fini and L’Industrie. We played music, brought a cooler of drinks and enjoyed viewing new neighborhoods out the trolley windows as we ranked our favorite slices. Following that, we checked out a few Williamsburg bars before taking the ferry back for a sunset cruise to Manhattan for an early dinner at Katz’s Delicatessen — another NYC must! Over bowls of matzo ball soup, sandwiches and plates of pickles, we recapped the weekend before heading back to the hotel to say goodnight and goodbye.
