Things to do in Whitefish, Montana
Glacier National Park: The west entrance to GNP is only 30–45 minutes from Whitefish and is home to the famous Going To The Sun Road.
Bike: There are so many amazing places to bike in Whitefish and the surrounding areas. My personal favorite is to do an e-bike rental from an awesome local Whitefish shop.
Kayak: Montana has an abundance of beautiful lakes and rivers. You can kayak in Whitefish on the lake, in GNP on one of the lakes there or do a scenic float down the Flathead River.
Boat: If you're more into powerboats than kayaking, there are plenty of places that offer boat rentals as well.
Breweries: Montana is my favorite place for craft beers, and they are not lacking in their brewery scene. Spend a day doing a guided brewery tour or check out a couple on your own. My personal favorite is Flathead Lake Brewery.
Hike: I know when people think Whitefish they automatically assume the best hiking is in Glacier. Don't get me wrong, the hiking there is amazing, but it can get quite crowded during peak season. There are some amazing hikes outside the park in the surrounding areas as well that shouldn't be missed.
Golf: There are some beautiful golf courses available in Whitefish and Kalispell for the golf lovers out there.
Farmers Markets/Farm Stands: Montana has awesome farmers markets and farm stands. Whitefish does theirs during the summers on Tuesday nights, but you can find farm stands while driving around. Kalispell does theirs on Saturday mornings.
Fireworks: If you happen to be in Whitefish over the Fourth of July, they put on an incredible firework show at City Beach.
Whitefish Mountain Resort: During the summer, you can check out the ski resort and ride the lift or gondola up and hike down.
Day trips:
Canada is an easy day trip from Whitefish. You have a couple of options depending on how much time you have. Waterton Lakes National Park and Fernie are both within three hours. Banff, Jasper and Yoho National Parks are 5–6 hours.
