Things to do in Charleston, SC

Explore the Historic District: Walk along the charming streets lined with pastel-colored homes, historic churches and hidden gardens. Be sure to visit Rainbow Row and the famous Pineapple Fountain in Waterfront Park.
Visit Boone Hall Plantation: One of America’s oldest working plantations, Boone Hall features breathtaking oak-lined avenues, historic slave quarters and stunning gardens.

Explore the Magnolia Plantation & Gardens: Known for its romantic gardens, this historic plantation is a must-visit for nature lovers and history buffs alike.
Ghost tour of Charleston: With its long and storied past, Charleston is considered one of the most haunted cities in America. A ghost tour through the old cemeteries and historic homes is a thrilling experience.
Take a Sunset Cruise: Enjoy a boat ride through Charleston Harbor at sunset for stunning views of the Ravenel Bridge, the Battery and Fort Sumter.
Visit the South Carolina Aquarium: Located on the waterfront. This aquarium is home to sea turtles, sharks and a variety of marine life native to the region.
Day trips
Beaufort, SC (1.5-hour drive): A charming waterfront town filled with history, moss-draped oak trees and scenic views. Stroll through the historic district, visit the Pat Conroy Literary Center or take a boat tour to spot dolphins and learn about the area’s Gullah culture.
Kiawah Island & Beachwalker Park (45-minute drive): If you’re craving a quiet beach escape, head to Kiawah Island’s Beachwalker Park. With its pristine shoreline, gentle waves and fewer crowds than Folly or Sullivan’s, it’s a perfect spot to relax. You can also stop by Freshfields Village for shopping and dining.
Edisto Island (1-hour drive): Edisto offers a laid-back, less commercialized beach experience. Visit Botany Bay Plantation Heritage Preserve to see untouched coastal landscapes, go shell-hunting on the beach or take a boat tour through the ACE Basin.
Savannah, GA (2-hour drive): If you’re up for a longer adventure, Savannah’s historic squares, Spanish moss-draped streets and lively riverfront make for a fantastic day trip. Visit Forsyth Park, explore the shops on Broughton Street and stop for lunch at a classic Southern eatery like Mrs. Wilkes’ Dining Room.
Bulls Island (30-minute drive and ferry ride): For nature lovers, Bulls Island is a must. Take the Coastal Expeditions ferry from Awendaw to explore this undeveloped barrier island, home to Boneyard Beach, stunning wildlife and miles of untouched hiking trails.
