Day 1: Glacier National Park
On your first day, a visit to Glacier National Park is an absolute must. The park is a masterpiece of natural beauty, offering hikes for all skill levels, each with views so breathtaking that you'll find yourself pausing just to take it all in. For a truly memorable experience, hop into one of the historic open-air cars for a guided tour along the iconic Going-to-the-Sun Road, renowned for its stunning scenery. As you leave the park, treat yourself to a hearty steak at one of the historic lodges, where you can dine with a view overlooking the serene lake — an experience that perfectly captures the essence of Glacier’s majestic landscape.
Day 2: Boat ride on Flathead Lake
One of the best summer activities is taking a boat ride on Flathead Lake, the largest natural freshwater lake west of the Mississippi. Gather your friends, rent a boat and cruise the crystal-clear waters while enjoying music, drinks and the scenic shoreline. If you're lucky, you might catch a glimpse of the wild horses that roam Wild Horse Island, one of the lake’s most fascinating spots. After the previous day hiking, there’s nothing better than relaxing on the water, soaking in the beauty and tranquility of this remarkable lake.
Day 3: Brash Rodeo
Immerse yourself in local culture by attending the long-running Brash Rodeo, a true Montana experience. Arrive early to catch the younger contestants in action, and stay as the competition intensifies with each round. These skilled riders and ropers showcase talents you won’t find just anywhere. After the rodeo, join the crowd at the local bar where the night continues with karaoke, line dancing and more. Don’t miss the chance to view the impressive animals, worthy of a natural history museum, that make this night memorable.
Day 4: Unwind at Whitefish Lake
Halfway through the trip, it's time to unwind at the Lodge at Whitefish Lake. This resort offers a luxurious retreat that perfectly complements the lodge’s stunning natural surroundings. The spa provides a tranquil atmosphere with expertly delivered treatments that leave you feeling utterly refreshed and pampered. The heated outdoor pool, hot tub and restaurant are all situated on the lake, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. Spend the rest of the day savoring a huckleberry cocktail while enjoying live music outdoors.
Day 5: Summer lift ride
To cap off your day in Montana, head to Whitefish Mountain Resort for a summer lift ride that offers breathtaking panoramic views of the valley and surrounding peaks. Perched atop the mountain at 6,817 feet, the Summit House awaits with a walk-up food counter and a full-service bar. It's the perfect spot to meet up with friends, sip a beer and take in the stunning vistas of the Northern Rockies and Glacier National Park. If you're seeking more adventure, consider a thrilling zipline tour that lets you soar above the treetops. After soaking in the scenery, return to town and enjoy Whitefish's vibrant nightlife. The local bars come alive in the evening with live music, providing the perfect backdrop to enjoy a drink and reflect on the week's adventures.
