Canadian Museum for Human Rights

A visit to the Canadian Museum for Human Rights is a world-class experience and a reason to come to Winnipeg alone. Allow yourself at least three hours for your visit. The museum's state-of-the-art architecture serves as a landmark celebrating human rights. The cutting-edge sustainable design reflects the interconnectedness of human rights and environmental responsibility.

Forks Market

Winnipeggers affectionately known the Forks Market as "the meeting place." This is fitting, as The Forks is situated at the junction of the Red and Assiniboine rivers and has served as a gathering spot for over 6,000 years. Indigenous peoples initially traded at The Forks, followed by European fur traders, Scottish settlers, railway pioneers and countless immigrants.

Throughout the year, you can enjoy local crafts, brews, shops, restaurants, as well as public artworks and a wide range of activities. The area hosts a busy calendar of events and features ample green space, perfect for walking, biking, skating, cross-country skiing and even river cruising.

Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada

If you are flying out of Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson Airport (YWG), be sure to allow time to visit the Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada. Rightly situated near the airport, given Winnipeg Airport is Canada’s first international airport, this museum showcases the rich history of aviation. The museum features a remarkable collection of well-preserved aircraft that represent three generations of engines and airframes. They range from early bush planes to commercial airliners and supersonic jet fighters. You don’t have to be a history buff or an adult to appreciate what this museum has to offer!

Live Music

Live music is the backbone of this prairie town, with artists like Neil Young, The Wailin' Jennys and The Guess Who calling Winnipeg their hometown. Catch a Live Music set with stellar local acts and international touring sets setting the stage for Canada. Check out the Live Music Calendar to discover some great events during your stay.

Assiniboine Park, Leo Mol Sculpture Garden

If you’re seeking peace, beauty and art, consider visiting Assiniboine Park, Leo Mol Sculpture Garden. This exceptional sculpture garden features the historic Leo Mol School House Studio from the 1960s. Visitors can explore the lost wax method used to create bronze sculptures, complete with intact Moulds, and admire many of Leo Mol’s incredible bronze works. Leo Mol has been inducted into the Order of Canada for his contributions to art.
