Curator’s statement

Quebec City is a cute and quaint city that makes you feel like you landed in a small French village. The cobblestone streets and the amazing food scene makes you forget that you are in Canada. It is the perfect place to visit in any season because of its culture and beauty. A trip to Quebec is the right place if you want to experience some French culture with Canadian friendliness without flying across the Atlantic.

Things to do in Quebec City

Visit Fairmont Le Château Frontenac

If you visit Québec City, you have to visit Fairmont Le Château Frontenac. It’s the iconic landmark of Québec City and one of the most recognizable hotels. It has shops and a museum inside of the hotel. It also has beautiful finishes and amazing architecture that you won't want to miss.

Place Royal

If you want to check out some cute shops, restaurants and art galleries while walking on beautiful cobblestone streets, look no further than Place Royal. It takes you back in time and makes you forget that you are in Canada.

Atelier Les Trois Corbeaux/Three Crow Glass Studio

If you love to admire local glass work, you need to check out Les Trois Corbeaux in Québec City. They have beautiful pieces ranging from vases to ornaments. I actually took a glassmaking class and made an ornament while I was there.

Quarter Petit Champlain

You can’t visit Quebec City without visiting Quarter Petit Champlain. It’s on the lower level of Québec City near the St. Lawrence River and below Fairmont Le Château Frontenac. It’s the perfect place to buy a souvenir and grab a snack. You can pay $5 cash and take Funicular du Vieux-Québec to go see Fairmont Le Château Frontenac.

La Boutique de Noël de Québec

If you are a Christmas lover, you need to visit La Boutique de Noël de Québec. It’s the cutest Christmas shop that is open all year around except Christmas Day and the New Year.

Montmorency Falls

If you are a sucker for waterfalls, you need to come to the Montmorency Falls. It is 85 meters high and a 15 minute drive from Québec City. You can take the metro cable car to the top where you can check out a restaurant and souvenirs then explore the falls. You can take a Uber or do a day trip excursion.

Île d’Orléans

If you like to take a break from the city and enjoy the country, you should definitely check out Île d’Orléans. It’s a quick drive from Québec City. It is known for its wine, cheese and chocolate. There are bike tours that you can take to get around the island.

Places to eat & drink in Quebec City

Chez Temporel

It’s a cute French restaurant that has been in Québec City for 50 years. I went there for my birthday dinner, and you can’t go wrong with anything on their menu.

Don Vegan Restaurant

If you are vegan or want to try to stay healthy while in Québec City, you should check out Don Vegan Restaurant. It has a cute outdoor seating area. I definitely recommend the Two Squash Risotto and Don Cake.

L’Omelette

Cute café that’s located in the heart of Old Québec City.

L’Antiquaire Buffet

My favorite breakfast spot that has a French diner vibe.

Madison Livernois

Lovely ambiance with a great brunch menu.

Café La Madison Smith Notre-Dame

This is the perfect place to get an Almond Croissant and a cup of coffee while sitting in Place Royal.
